Some have called me an isolationist (fair point) w/regards to foreign policy..........best to avoid the "sand-trap" altogether....

This is what happens when you play nation building and sell weapons to everyone that can afford it.

Fair question: Are we playing these animals' game, by advertising their daily job description in front off the world?

Cue up "bomb the Middle East until we have nothing left. Syria,Iran,Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan!!!! Exterminate every living being and then take ALL the oil.!!!!" guy.....

Questionable language on your part aside.

I am not even sure of what you are asking.

What is the alternative, some sort of press blackout of actions taken by ISIS?

War mongers from both sides are happy to see this sort of thing publicized.

So you want a world of self-censorship?

Look how you phrased the question.

If you don't cover terrorists action or sanitize your reporting, things like people in China not even knowing who Tank Man is happens.

or just get the hell out of the middle east all together, watch from afar, and let them sort it all out themselves.

because we have been over there for the last 20 years...... spent more money than any other conflict or war, and everything is still a mess.

Isn't that pretty much what the West has done in sub Saharan Africa? Not involved, let them sort it out, and the horror rarely shows up on our TV's. If someone simply doesn't care/want to know what's happening I suppose that's the way to go.

Well the two Western people that were beheaded were reporters so I guess to get out we'll have to ban any Westerner from the Middle East.

Don't worry guys, Hil 2016 has a secret plan to fix this. OK, it's not that secret, it's more drones and then when that doesn't work we'll go with shock and awe.

I saw a still from one of the CNN feeds. Did they really behead him with what looks like a 5 inch knife??

True, but they're also doing this to get their message out, so it gets complicated. Not sure I know the right amount of emphasis to put on videos/actions like this, but it seems like the media is playing it for sensationalism a lot of the time.

It really isn't hard to behead a human. You can clean large game with a 4" knife. Quality and Sharpness is the key.

Take it easy Hannibal.

I don't think Biden's "gates of hell" comment is particularly helpful. Religious words seem to be useful propaganda for religious extremists.

The beheadings I've seen the knives seem to be very dull, by design. They get more squirming, pain, and horror that way. Nice guys
09-03-2014 , 08:30 PM
With regards to the knife.. and not showing the actual beheadings, I Beleive it's because they messed up the executions and thus saved face by editing the actual decapitation out. The majority of Isis beheadings I have seen end with two guys furiously trying to pull the head off with their hands because they Havnt cut correctly. Understandable when a lot of these animals only left their cushy western countries recently

Some of these comments should probably go in the Decapitation Techniques thread so this thread can focus on the bigger picture. Just a thought.

I wonder if Chuck C. Johnson thinks Sotloff was less of a coward than he thought James Foley was.
09-04-2014 , 12:20 AM
I never heard of Chuck Johnson until a few days ago. Hope I never hear from him again.
