Knock yourself out trying to prove how rediciulous your views on poor people in this country are.

Interesting link I have here wouldn't you say?!?!

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_7eleven_take_food_stamps

Or that one.

ameka T.: There are several stores that accept EBT cards such as Walmart, Food Lion, Kroger, Farm Fresh, Fresh Pride, and 7 Eleven. Some Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores also accept EBT cards. You should see the EBT or Quest logo near the front door of a store that accepts EBT.

So let me get this straight. I tell a story on an internet forum that I thought was relevant to the discussion at hand.

You then make a post, aimed at discrediting my story. Basically calling me out saying it can't be true and I must be making it up because part of my story is impossible.

I then show that you don't know what you're talking about, and in the state/situation I'm referring to, it can happen/does happen.

Before you make an all caps lock post trying to troll/flame someone, maybe YOU should do a little research. You could of asked me what state I'm talking about, I would of been happy to say. (it's WA state fwiw) And I don't live in WA state (live in Idaho) so I can't really do anything about it anyways.

(yes I own rental property in a different state, and yes I still own that specific rental, and yes those specific tenants are living in the same apartment unit, getting the same free money, shopping at the same stupid 7/11 to this day)

You made the claim. Prove some how other than anecdotal evidence and yahooanswers.

I'm sorry bro. I'm sure you are a nice guy and remember what you remember. Maybe even it was different when your story happened. Maybe it was a liberal state that you rented property in and in >50% of the country what you witnessed was not possible.

Yahooanswers is still not a citation.

I'll happily admit I am wrong if you provide proof otherwise. I've done it seems like a million time ITF, and even once already ITT.

I'm not really paying a lot of attention to this thread, but WIC != food stamps. No idea what the finer points of the current argument are, but felt the need to get that out there.

I find it quite shameful that we spend enough on bombs and 'freeing people from themselves' to buy 124MM people 3 $5 value meals everyday ($683.7 billion/365/3/$5).

I'm not saying we should be all things to all people, but don't you think we have enough money to make sure children go to sleep with a full belly? It is only saving ourselves money later down the road, especially with the amount of money that we spend on prisons.

If your point is that the OP/Title is a strawman, then I would agree. If your point is that we spend too much on SNAP and similar programs, I think you are dead wrong.

All I'm saying is, there are a significant part of the food bank population who are obese. I'm saying that with the opinion it's really irrelevant that they are obese.

I think government assistance is needed in some cases such as mental illness....but I also think many people in the lines choose to live that way. I've stood in those lines before.

I think a great many of those people are being enabled with some of the assistance the government/charities give them.

I firmly believe giving consistent support to people makes them less self sufficient and actually does more harm than help.

The reason why debating with Regret is so pointless (like a lot of other idiots on this forum) is even when it's clear they're wrong, they keep on going on and on and on about "zomg yahoo answers isn't a real citation." If he took 2 minutes and just googled, "Does Papa Murphys accept food stamps?" he could of EASILY found the answer.

So in this instance, I'm CLEARLY right, and he's obviously wrong. But when it comes to a complex issue with a lot of grey in it (like food stamp funding) how the heck are we suppose to have a legitimate productive discussion? I mean, he makes the burden of proof for a simple small insignificant fact so difficult, it would take me years to prove an abstract/complicated point with "proper citation."

You are right rika bout spending the food stamps at quickstop. You can't do this with WIC program benefits.

SNAP is about $78 billion in 2011, and WIC is around $7b.
