So, what will the World look like in 25/50 years? So, what will the World look like in 25/50 years?

Wow, is that a fantastic play. Calling when beaten in sight knowing that another player will bluff, the player with trips showing didn't fill up and will fold and you can snap off the bluffer. Remind me never to play with her.

well come on, you know riker is gonna bluff and you know wes is going to insta-fold even with the tabletalkers telling him not to (I love how Jordi is all like "ZOMG HE GOT THE STRAIGHT FLUSH" and then he's like "ZOMG WES U R A PUSSY"), that was a no brainer.
05-23-2012 , 02:03 PM
Wes seriously needs lessons. That's like the worst ever b/f situation of all time. Are you ever getting called by a worse hand when all you have is what's on your board?? Although, I guess it happened.

Would have been hilarious if Riker folded.

Wes: "I just have the 3 jacks."
Woman: (studies his board) "They're good"

WTF are they doing playing 5 card stud?!?!
05-23-2012 , 03:00 PM
Wes should have objected to the string bet and seen the showdown for free.
05-23-2012 , 03:20 PM
Yeah, I noticed the string bet too, but I can't imagine many poker home games strictly enforcing string bet rules.

Seeing as he is willing to play with an android, a mind reader and a guy with glasses that presumably allow him to read through the cards, it seems nitty to criticize Wes on his value betting on those hands where he is able to isolate the humans.

Also, wtf is Data doing calling her "councelor" when they're playing games in their free time? Her ****ing name is Deanna! He's supposed to be learning to be more human.

The string bet rule was eliminated in 2044
One player to a hand eliminated in 2105
Splashing the pot allowed starting in 2117

All non-awful poker variants made illegal in 2155, leaving only 5 card stud.

lol at thinking somebody drew all the way to a straight flush in 5-card stud.

And lol at Riker for thinking that he should try in case it came perfect, perfect, perfect and he could try a crazy bluff.
05-23-2012 , 03:54 PM
Yeah, that's actually the best part. Riker was drawing to nothing.

Yeah. At least in my home game the one guy who makes us play 5CS has the decency to make the hole cards wild.

I told him last week that we should all just throw $10 into the pot and high card it. He didn't get it. :|

It's called [I]The Next Hundred Years[I by george Friedman. It is pretty good, and looks at the the past to predict the future, and also uses geography, economy and other geopolitical issues to forecast what will happen.

Hard to believe no one has referenced this yet:

Has anyone made the obvious math joke about what the world will look like in 6 months?

And the rest is wrong, too. Some of you kids have really curious ideas about the history of computing technology.

yeah, the "infinite network of computers, infinite amount of information" comment was dubious. smacks of youth, ignorance, etc.

Cliffs:
1) Young people think they invented technology
2) Wesley Crusher sucks at poker

At least that's all I've gotten out of it. This thread's older than my account.

I didn't even know the internet existed before the summer of '09. I was too busy chipping flint for my spear in case a woolly mammoth showed up.
