An article I read on the Haliburton settlement the other day (which protected them from more liability unless this judge ruled gross negligence-which it doesn't seem like he did) said BP had already paid about 28B$.

Really hot take from a unsigned review.
The review was fine until those last lines. But the worst is the caption under the picture of Lupita Nyong'o as Patsey from 12 Years a Slave:

Patsey was certainly a valuable property

Meh, even before that it was three paragraphs of introduction, a line about being dismissive of other factors, then name dropping another book that doesn't deal with the same questions as the reviewed book and then starts on alternative theory of slave masters probably took care of their capital therefore not all bad. While not particularly terrible before the closing lines it was on par with a freshman book review. A lot of fluff, assertions without expansion and a terrible closing.

I guess I meant "fine" as in not completely stupid. Those last lines seemed to come out of nowhere, though.

The Influence of the religious right on the Air Force is a long term concern of mine. I think it is fair to say it is in a trending wane, but that is no reason not to keep some eyes peeled on them.

The Ayatollah just supported efforts to fight ISIS. Hope this is some sort of mistake that is quickly resolved. You have a link?

NVM here it is. http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/...bea_story.html

Why is that surprising? If I am not mistaken, ISIS is a Sunni group, so Shia Iran doesn't want them gaining influence.
09-05-2014 , 04:35 PM
Lou is surprised to see Muslims fighting Muslims.
09-05-2014 , 05:13 PM
I'm pretty sure the mistake is the plane thing.
09-05-2014 , 05:23 PM
Mistakes on a plane?!

I wasn't clear the Ayatollah welcoming US involvement in the region to fight ISIS on the same day as forcing a US plane down would be quite odd if the actions were both deliberate and coordinated. Seems like Brons is right it was a mistake/misunderstanding.
