No, generally if someone doesn't understand what you said, they don't know they didn't understand what you said and have no way to ask for clarification.

But they have some way of being able to respond to a strawman?

Ron Paul will be on CNN's State of the Union on Sunday and also on Bloomberg's Political Capital. Source

If they ask for clarification, its up the you to find a way to communicate in a way they can understand. A typical trait of American english speakers is to speak the same words more s l o w l y and LOUDER, as if that makes them more understandable by non-english speakers. I suppose if a person has no patience, nor real want for someone who isn't already an enlightened one, to decide if the information is credible to them, then it's easier to say they are incapable of rational thought.

Compared to when America was originally founded, his point is very valid. Viewing it as a libertarian, America isn't that much of a democracy. Everything is being controlled by the government rather than letting the people govern themselves. Democracy isn't just about being able to vote; it is about self-government.

No, no it isn't. American today is much more democratic and free than American circa 1790 on pretty much any societal metric. It's even better from a libertarian perspective (e.g., valuing personal liberty).
06-05-2011 , 06:43 PM
for the love of god, do we really need to have a discussion about whether or not there is more freedom today than in 1792 in this thread?
06-05-2011 , 08:11 PM
Ron raised a bunch of money today!
06-05-2011 , 08:15 PM
It would appear so, if people don't already understand why saying that appears ahistorical to everyone else in the room.

Besides, without Fermion5 stopping by to post videos, this thread is even lower-Ron Paul content than then 2010 Primary one...

wow, RP releasing shirtless photos.

IDK ABOUT THAT CAMPAIGN MOVE.

Not Ron Paul, but I think Ron Paul fans would appreciate it: Awesome Tom Woods Speech.

According to political pauls district in texas could have its boundaries redrawn. I would post the link but im on phone. If u go to fark.com/politics its a few links down. Its not final by any means but according to the article he could end up w/ a less favorable statistical region. Anyway he would probably still win hes pretty popular
