Ron really crushes it here. Worth noting that google, a company that presumably has pretty smart employees, had every candidate come and do this and RP's was by far the best attended.
A porn star would have got more attendees. Which kind of takes the sting out of your argument.

no one is arguing rp will be more popular than a pornstar or any other celebrity at one of these meetings. just that he is more far popular than every other politician among people who bother to show up to listen to their ideas, even moreso than our current president, ushered in as one of the most popular of all time.
05-26-2011 , 02:24 AM
my point is that people are not necessarily turning up because they want to vote for him, but rather because he is "news". If someone told me that not one of the Google employees who hated Ron Paul turned up to his talk I would not believe it.
05-26-2011 , 02:32 AM
dude the point is that smart people respond to his message. not sure wtf your random, unsubstantiated porn star comment has to do with anything.

if RP becomes the Fox News / Rush / Hannity candidate tomorrow, I think he likely gets the nomination.

smart people are in jail for embezzlement.

whats your point?
05-26-2011 , 02:35 AM
that independent thinkers respond to him

Sure. It's also not tough to recognize certain things that are completely and totally impossible, like eliminating the state.

+1

Anyone think FOX would get behind RP if they decided that was their only shot to dethrone Obama or would they rather just let Obama win?

The point you missed in your lashing out (y u so threatened, bro?) is that it doesn't matter if the people who showed up did so because they wanted to vote for him. The fact is that people respond to him because he actually gives them something to respond to (whether it's positive or negative).

Which means what, exactly?
05-26-2011 , 09:19 AM
Which means even bad publicity is better than no publicity.

Not to get this thread back on track or anything, but the latest Gallup poll has Ron in 3rd, 7 points behind Romney. If Sarah Palin doesn't run he's tied for 2nd. He also has more support from moderates/liberals and Republican-leaning independents than any other Republican in the race, which probably explains why CNN's most recent polling has Ron Paul closer to overtaking Obama than the rest of the field (including Romney).

Never gonna happen. Iowa is possible but a longshot. New Hampshire is Romney territory 4 lyfe. A strong 2nd is what we're shooting for there.

a strong 2nd gets me 0 dollars from our overlord. useless.
