Ron Paul 2012 Containment Thread Ron Paul 2012 Containment Thread

Bachmann won the Ames straw poll, not "the Iowa" poll. It's inaccurate to describe these as "the" Ohio poll or whatever, a straw poll occurs at a specific convention or event. They aren't official elections like the caucuses and primaries.

wait...bachmann isn't now the governor of Iowa? wow, thanks fly we were all so confused.

Just for everyones info about how sick max raker is, I would not bet at even money vs max raker at an IQ test even getting a +25 point spot, which is an absurd spot. (I expect my IQ to be in the 140s)

Dunno if being serious or..

Didn't Paul take down Ohio straw poll? Or did I miss that discussion?
10-23-2011 , 02:43 PM
Ron Paul confirmed crushed meet the press
10-23-2011 , 02:51 PM
questions are hilarious

'why do you want to make thees draconian cuts'

'a lot of your supporters are young people - tell me about how you want to cancel the student aid programs'

'under president paul, osama bin laden and gaddafi would still be alive...'

lulz, media moves this guy

Seems pretty straightforward to me. We obviously had to invade Iraq and make sure there were no terrorists or wmd's there first, before we could move on to pursuing Osama Bin Laden. You can't put the cart before the horse.

This isn't the first time that I've seen an interviewer assume that Ron Paul would not have gone after Bin Laden. Where the hell did they get that idea from? Remember the days when Tim Russert actually did some fact checking and background research on MTP? Used to be a great program.

Pretty much what I was trying to say before things got sidetracked with the media bias discussion.

I think it's pretty noncontroversial to say that the straw polls are irrelevant, and if say. Parry had won them, the RP guys would be agreeing with me.

Straw Polls are relevant for a bunch of reasons. They give a good idea of how party insiders are leaning. These party insiders volunteer, donate, convince people to vote, etc, etc. They also show which campaigns are organized and can motivate supporters.

max raker is a theoretical particle physics phd student at standford iirc, lol IQ tests and everything but i'm guessing he would destroy most of the clowns in here

Right, they're irrelevant ... when Ron Paul wins them.

What catapulted Herman Cain into the spot light? His Florida straw poll win, and the media's positive coverage had a lot to do with that, no?
10-23-2011 , 03:32 PM
They're useful for weeding out the completely hopeless campaigns like T-Paw, and for convincing people to donate $, but they aren't remotely useful as predictors for the state primary.

^^ and I'm pretty sure Cain got into the spotlight based on his performance in the first debate. And yes, they're irrleevant even when non-RP candidates win them. Bachmann is trailing in every Iowa state poll.

If you set a minimum IQ (which also specifies a mean looking at the normal distribution) and look at the distribution your breakeven point here with +25 is like minimum 113 (mean 120) here FWIW, and that's at even money.

lol, seriously? you offered an outrageous IQ bet that you knew never had a chance of taking place. i countered with a less relevant (but still relevant) and infinitely more practical competition ... this is a poker forum and all. feels strange to be explaining this to a guy w/ an IQ of 195.

I would want to bet around 100k and it probably wouldn't be worth the effort (meeting somewhere, getting an official test that I could not have seen before etc) for less than 20k. You can PM if you are interested.

Wow epic epeen waving itt.
