This is just LOLtastical. Besides the fact you just made up three more "special" little words in your private patois, and just denied about 200 years of history... I really got to ask...

What do you expect to accomplish by making up your own little language? That's the one thing I have never understood with youz guyz... what exactly is your payoff? What do you get outta your exercise?

I was unaware he was a pro-liberty candidate. I know him for McCain-Feingold and that's about it, which is enough to cast doubt on him being worthy of support, but maybe I'm just ignorant of the guy. I was ignorant of Paul until about 5 years ago. Why would Feingold be a good choice (besides agreeing with Paul on a conclusion, but possibly for much different reasons).

I am genuinely curious.

Feingold was by far the most vociferous opponent of the Patriot Act in Congress, and the only Senator who voted against it.

No.

how many more muslims must be murdered in unconstitutional strikes until you would go 'well, maybe obama is a racist?'
This question makes no sense.

Quote:
how many more black youth need to be imprisoned in private prisons and have their lives ruined over non-violent crimes that involve a substance that has been shown to be far less dangerous than alcohol and tobacco until you might go 'well, maybe obama is a racist?'
Again, this makes no sense. The drug war is not an Obama initiative, and paleoconservative libertarians making this sort of disparate impact argument for racism is such an amazing concession of all their most treasured arguments about race, affirmative action, etc.

Quote:
or do you just tell yourself he is at the behest of larger institutions and that he is not racist himself, but merely a puppet of the real racists?
No?

I was just making fun of how awful this argument style was and you saw that as a cue to remake it?

It's never going to make sense. Also this is the Ron Paul 2012 Containment Thread?

Edit: Guys, after you tell people about how convincing you find David Duke's views on race to be, how the CRA is tyranny, and how Loving v. Virginia was an activist judge redefining marriage, or how you don't even care if Ron Paul is racist you'd vote for him anyway... this little spiel about the racist drug war is not going to "cancel that out" or whatever you seem to think. It just seems comes off as weird and disingenuous. Just some constructive criticism on rhetoric for y'all.

They are both unwinnable, immoral, and counterproductive. Significant parts of the war on terror are illegal.

Re: Ron Paul 2012 Containment Thread

had a long conversation yesterday with a fellow political junkie that I met while hiking. we both agreed that we liked RPs message more than the man himself, and that it was frustrating that his followers were unwilling to concede that he is not perfect.

Re: Ron Paul 2012 Containment Thread

I am not trapping anyone. I don't know what his position is at all. Everyone gets so defensive and thinks this is like some game of who wins the message boards. I want to actually learn things.

Good for him. I'm curious what his reasoning was. Are there any other things he did that we might like?

I could see supporting a Democratic candidate that was in favor of social net type programs, but is against wars, spying, etc... Tolerate leaving or even expanding the least offensive programs while attacking the worst ones would be a net positive.

It's standard for the thread to irrationally defend positions you don't agree with if a politician you like happens to hold them.
