And I just said I WASN'T sure. Like, REALLY? I defer to my post about people not actually... reading the words other people write.

Man, for as much as you have your panties in a bunch about people putting words in your mouth, you sure like to do it yourself.

There was no such law in Greensboro, NC.

So, because there were no laws in Greenboro, I must've been wrong about laws that forced segregation in restaurants? Is this some kind of Missiledawg math?

You're the ones putting words in mouths then. I was pointing out that not everything we're taught in school is accurate to reality, as fly seemed to take pleasure in thinking. I'm pretty sure there aren't many people here who actually support the drug war.

I quote you again:

Me interpreting this as an assertion that Fly, me, Case Closed, et al. support the drug war is not putting words in your mouth. That's what it says. If you didn't mean that, then you're a bad writer, it's not me being a bad reader.

Re: Ron Paul 2012 Containment Thread
Hm yeah I did word that poorly. Not a mistake I make often. "You" refers to people who have gone through the education system in general.
Worth noting that I'm not one to blithely claim that people support things they don't even while knowing they don't actually support those things. So you could have figured out what I meant there.

We are chatting about a particular historical incident, the Greensboro Four.
But what your wrong about is that this was fundamentally a government thingee. For three reasons, (1) it was relatively rare for there to be any Jim Crow for public accommodations, even in the south (2) the north and west didn't have these Jim Crow laws anyways, and (3) the larger racist owners are the ones who created these Jim Crow laws to begin with.
In all three cases discrimination was fundamentally a matter of the racist owners liking it like that.

IIRC nothing I learned about drugs in school was all that inaccurate, though they lied to us about STDs a lot for some reason. The problem with drugs isn't the lies in school, it's the fact that they are illegal in the first place.
Anyway are you implying that I'm wrong and Ron Paul was right? I mean, you are. That's the obvious implication.
We can take that **** to the Civil War thread if you want, but spoiler alert, you will lose that argument pretty badly. Ron Paul has no idea what he's talking about.

No, Case Closed and I were talking aboout a hypothetical situation, and I was being sarcastic, and you were talking about the Greensboro Four. Why are you so dishonest?

Keep in mind that happens over and over again. Somebody is like "I don't like that Ron Paul supports X". After we spend a few dozen posts convincing Ron Paul supporters that Ron Paul actually does support X, the usual response is:
"So what, you support the drug war!" or some snagglepussian variant. Like that's a complicated chain there. You guys get FURIOUSLY ANGRY whenever Ron Paul is attacked because you think there's some sort of way those attacks work their way down to you, but then you flip it by picking a random thing Obama supports and ascribing that to the liberals? But we don't!
You guys literally defend these awful positions on gay rights/religious freedom/etc. that Ron Paul takes and then act insulted that people remind you about it, as if it's MrWookie's fault that Ron Paul still can't say "No" to whichever random group of wingnuts wants to hang out. And also actually does hold a bunch of views that reasonable people can strongly disagree about.

Case Closed's scenario didn't mention any laws. The Greensboro Four is a real life example of Case Closed's scenario. So it really doesn't matter.
If you were being sarcastic I missed it. Which is easy to do on the interwebs. Sorry about that. But missing your sarcasm doesn't mean I was acting in bad faith or being "dishonest".

Honestly, I wish Ron Paul would kind of go away so you guys would stop pretending that some of his dated views are somehow libertarian positions. But obviously I DON'T want him to go away because he's spreading an important message.

You can start an idealistic libertarian thread if you want. This is the Ron Paul thread.
