Do you expect something like the Cologne New Year attacks of a year ago?

No, I think you just like going after Trump while in some places like Cologne real attacks happen and the liberals excuse them. You can be sure that Sessions will see that any such attacks in the US are prosecuted.

I wasn't planning on participating this round. We have family visiting from overseas, and my responsibility is logistics. So I asked where they want to go while they are here. The school aged girls said they wanna go protest D.Trump. So we're going to the Women's March San Diego !!!1!

I'd like to point out that there's going to be all sorts of protests. I'd like to also point out that children have the same 1stA rights as adults. Some of these events are family friendly. The big kahuna, the Women's Marches is one example. Hell, they're explicitly saying WMSD is not a rally, protest, or march... they're calling it a celebration of human rights. These are parades... legal and fully permitted parades.

Go watch the parade. March in the parade if you want. The cops will be working to keep the parade route safe, not attack the parade. Bring the kids. Have fun !!!1!

NAACP not participating in the Portland women's march and calls it a "white woman Kombiya". Sad. Portland, the city that protests, protests protesting protests.

Haha, but of course! (I was being sarcastic.)

Protesting your golden-shower-loving-orange-glow-twitter-troll isn't the same thing as protesting democracy. Continue being wrong by all means.

My wife and I went to a march in downtown Columbus, OH yesterday. The original estimate was 1,500 people, but post-march estimates were 3,000. This was the first time we had done anything like this. (My wife has historically cared 0 about politics, but has gotten extremely interested in the last year.)

Some scattered thoughts:
- Overwhelmingly women, not surprisingly. What did surprise me a little was how few people of color there were. The crowd was overwhelmingly white.

- Lots of those weird pink pussy hats.

- There didn't seem to be a focus to the march, or any real leadership. The crowd would sporadically chant things, but it seemed pretty random. At various points, I heard "No means no", "Our body, our choice", "Stand up, fight back" and some chants about Obamacare. But those chants were very localized, like a couple of people would decide to try to chant, and then 10-20 more people might join in.

- The march was relatively brief (like 0.5 miles), and once we got to the end (the State House), people were just kind of standing around unsure what to do. It seems like people ended up making a circle around the building, just standing there.

- I was expecting there to be more counter-protest, but the only thing I saw was some dude holding an anti-abortion poster, complete with picture of aborted fetus.

So, based on yesterday's experience, I think there is a lot of enthusiasm out there, but it's not clear how that enthusiasm is going to translate into any action.

Channeling Shame Trolley: That was action!

There's unfortunately very little to do out here in the middle of nowhere for J20 but I'm going to an MLK memorial march today.

Eh, it was probably more effective than tweeting or posting on facebook, but I'm not sure how much.

You're one out of 320 million people. Nothing you do is going to be *that* effective. Just pretend it is. It's just like pretending life in general is meaningful. It's the best option available.

Depends how violent he gets. If someone so much as throws a brick through a window that will get more media coverage than a 100,000 protesters marching.

If you punch someone you win the news jackpot!

No I just think for guys who like to grab women by the Pussy it creates a high target environment.

What are your thoughts on the president elect previously saying he could just grab women by the pussy if he wanted. Are you pro or con? Does supporting him make you feel more virile?

Well, the golden-shower-loving-orange-glow-twitter-troll just got elected democratically as President of the United States and hasn't even taken office yet.

So in effect you actually are protesting democracy and the outcome of the democratic process.

No. I suspect you are one of those people who don't understand nuanced topics. I also suspect you held a different view when the Tea Party protested Obama.

So what? It is our constitutional right.
01-16-2017 , 09:51 PM
Sure. As long as it's peaceful and non-violent.
01-16-2017 , 10:30 PM
The agents provocateurs will be doing their best to make things violent and non-peaceful. In addition to the usual law enforcement attempts to incite violence, we now have free agent Trumpkins doing the same, such as serial douchebag James O'Keefe trying to bribe protesters with cash to disrupt the inauguration, and DeploraBall organizer Jack Posobiec showing up at a protest with a 'Rape Melania' sign in an attempt to make the protesters look bad.
