Yes. Your lawyer is absolutely correct. You can be charged with Aggravated Assault as felony of the second degree if you either intentionally or knowing caused bodily injury to another with a deadly weapon. Also you can be charged with Simple Assault as a misdemeanor of the second degree if you negligently cause bodily injury to another with a deadly weapon.

The Superior Court and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania have both held that a car can be the deadly weapon for the purpose of a conviction for assault as stated above...
Uh, it's big government run amok. What did you expect. People are charged with vehicular ADW all the time. Big government's agents routinely execute perps for this shiz... when the pedestrian happens to be one of their own.

Even if it was legal to run people over with cars, people shouldn't do it.

There is a long history of peeps arguing over crowd counts. The Park Police have a track record of spewing loltastically low estimates. So afterwards, it'll be a matter of picking the numbers you like. No matter how you count it, it's going to be huge.

'Attempted to run over officer' is a common claim when police shoot someone who is unarmed.

200M for the Women's march alone is the lowball estimate from what I've been reading, and that doesn't seem at all unrealistic.

For protests to make a difference, there'll have to be 1M+ people protesting indefinitely.

A general strike will need to occur in major cities throughout the US.

Fact is that most protests do dick unless they disrupt the economy of the country in significant ways.

Re: The Resistance: Actvism, protests and more!

That's not true at all. Protests make the news, they drive the discussion, and they serve as a warning. Any politician with half a brain (granted this may rule out much of the GOP) is already realizing that there are serious limits to what they can do without sparking massive civil unrest. That in itself is a victory.

Protests also have cumulative effect. Friday/Saturday is just the start. If Trump and the GOP do what they say they are going to do, there will be many more to come.

Pretty much all of the change for the good coming from the government was brought on by popular protest, dissent, and resistance. Some of it large enough to disrupt big parts of the economy, but certainly not all of it. And Jan 20 and 21st have not been and will not be the only days of protest.

Re: The Resistance: Actvism, protests and more!

If you compare protests now in America to the way they used to be, they're weak. They're first-world protests. Protesters need to throw the type of protests that you saw in the Arab Spring. Hell I'd take a Velvet Revolution.

I wonder if it's that people have Twitter and feel that they're protesting by liking and sharing memes on social media instead of going out there and doing something.

We just had a protest that lasted months and had like 8000 people encamped in what became freezing weather, the protestors had to essentially set up a city and so far at least, no DAPL.

"First world protests" went a long way toward stopping Standing Rock, advancing the civil rights movement and ending the Vietnam War. If things get really bad, I expect guys like MissileDog will help with some old-school wobbly-style actions.

I largely agree with your first paragraph. That's kinda the point. We haven't needed to go there, because we've had the luxury of being first world with at least somewhat competent government. That might be about to change under a Trump presidency. I think that is part of what this coming weekend is about. It's saying that yes, we will go there if necessary. Hopefully we say it loud enough that we don't need to, but I'm not feeling too optimistic these days.

FWIW, I agree that posting spicy memes on Twitter does jack ****, but hitting the streets like John Lewis did will get results.

Re: The Resistance: Actvism, protests and more!

The MSM has sucked ass at covering protests for a long long while now. Democracy protests during the primaries had the largest number of people arrested ever at a protest in the history of Washington DC protests and it wasn't really covered by American corporate media.

Re: The Resistance: Actvism, protests and more!

Back in the OWS days, I made a protest sign... OK, if I wasn't lazy, I would have made this protest sign: "Community, Experience, Networking". That's what I was on the streets fighting for.

No one should expect facts on the ground to change next week.

What has already happened is that thousands of activists have been living the dream. We wanna live in a world without others telling us what to do, and where our decisions matter... and when you're involved in organizing these kinda events that's exactly the world you are living in. That's community.

What will happen, all around the world, is a million peeps will have a new experience. They'll be doing something active, not passive. They'll be doing something direct, instead of mediated though layers of companies/parties/pols/MSM/etcetc. They'll be doing something powerful instead of pointless. And... I can't emphasise this enough... they'll be doing something fun, really, really fun. That's experience.

What will change next week is that a billion connections will have been made. The real purpose of every march/rally/protest/action is to build towards the next one. That's networking.

Every action you can walk away from is a victory... every single one.

Chicago events start at 3:00 - 5:00 PM at the Honorable Richard J. Daley Plaza (that's where they got that Picasso), followed by a short stroll across the river for an all night protest in front of Trump Tower.

Chicago PD response:
