lol no. if i wasn't circumcised i'd be afraid to show my peen to a girl (as they all think its gross not to be circumcised, sorry to anyone this applies to), but i also wouldn't be willing to go through that type of surgery at this point in my life. super glad it was done when i had nothing better to do with my time at 1 year old (or whenever)

I don't get this. It's not like you're putting your penis on display. Generally there is some type of friction based goal in mind that is not going to be hindered at all by the look of your penis at that point.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the amount of pain, misery, suffering, resentment, and depression that is caused from physical abuse completely dwarfs the amount of that caused by circumcision.

Right, I don't think anyone is arguing that people, outside of that crazy dude who made the foreskin comic, are really damaged by circumcision. It's just a marking exercise that serves no functional purpose. It's like clipping off a useless portion of your ear to mark that you're a part of a club.

i feel exactly this way. i am glad i am circumsized, think i would feel weird about having not been circumsized, yet would not have had it done as an adult.

to me, it is a neutral decision in terms of ethics. more a cosmetic procedure than anything. and as far as cosmetic procedures go, i don't think there is anything wrong with having them done to children merely to fit in with cultural norms. in my view the tattoo example fails, it only works because it implies future potential ostracization, while circumcision doesn't have that concern. for now anyway.
