I googled. Seems like a non issue. I was worried about this, but after you prompted me to do research I will make sure to invest in a fracking company this week just for you. Thanks land shark!
By the way, watch for definitional vagueness in the term "fracking". It has at least 1 specific and 1 general definition. Without a precise reading and knowledge of your site, it is difficult to tell which definition is being used.

Could you, like, tell us what those are? I don't know the difference.

Maybe read it then rather than just randomly blogging?

Re: Pros & Cons on Fracking

I found the Columbia Alumni mag article. It's terrible, so don't repeat my mistake and go looking for it.

Cliffs: The guy who made Gasland is a Columbia grad, and the article is a vapid fluff piece of less than 1,000 words and no science.

Oops. It's much longer than I first realized.

Re: Pros & Cons on Fracking

General point regarding public policy: Choosing which issues to address is like choosing which games to play in. Some issues are much more fruitful for reasoned analysis & public discourse than others, which may create much heat (no global warming pun intended) and very little light (ex. abortion, the death penalty, gay rights).

One key reason why issues such as global warming and fracking need to be, and can hopefully be addressed productively, is that some ultimate consequences of our societal decisions are shared by all and are very important.

I apologize that my knowledge is not as strong as I would like it to be, but fracking seems like an exceptionally important issue, that needs to be addressed by the public. I prefer to bring attention to it ASAP, at the irrelevant/inconsequential risk of looking foolish or ignorant.

Rest easy then, you have alerted us that fracking exists.

Because I joined many years ago, and have generally preferred to read, and not post. I thought I had better things to do with my time.

You don't need an account to read.

I read this forum quite often without signing in, then sign in to post.

Who are you, really?

Skimmed the rest of the article. Most of my struck text above still stands.

I prefer to remain anonymous. My job has nothing to do with fracking, or even politics. Nice to meet you. Who are you?
