It really comes down to who does the investigating, Trump is obviously going to look for a loyal Trumpkin and the blue team is going to scream bias. So there may be some sort of minor compromise. As long as whoever is charged with doing this is not in the tank for Trump, then I don't think Trump is going to like the outcome.
Republicans are in charge of all the committees investigating these things. By putting out this red meat for his rabid base, he's essentially pressuring them to look into imaginary breitbart articles and also to not investigate his real crimes fully. And we've seen that they are susceptible to pressure (Chaffetz, Nunes for example).

I want to see more scandal, lawsuits, and possibly impeachment. That's what the country needs.

He can, but he won't and the suit would be quickly dismissed before there is any discovery.

I agree with the first part but don't see why it would be quickly dismissed.

Politicians don't get any special protection from libel - although as a public figure Obama would need to prove Trump's statements were made with knowledge (or reckless disregard) that they were false. Not sure Obama could do this, but think his claim would be strong enough to survive a motion to dismiss and get to discovery.

Fwiw on Kimmel he said tha 100% of proceeds go to the families of military so pimping I think isn't the correct term to frame the situation.
