The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

Trump will be the first sitting president to pressure the IRS to audit not his rivals, but himself. He'll then blast the IRS for auditing his 2016 returns and rant about how it's politically motivated. The irony is, it'll be true...

He'll then promise to release them when the audit is over and accuse the liberal IRS of blocking him from clearing his good name. No, make that his greatest name.

Sometime in his third or fourth "term," the God Emperor will decree that God Emperors have a lifetime exemption from taxes.

Was just stating the law. But sure he has a reason, releasing them during the campaign was a no win situation. Either liberals complain he is not paying enough taxes, has too many write offs, makes too much money.... Doubt many advisers would recommend releasing them in an audit either.

The hoi polloi might actually have a moment of clarity when they realize they themselves pay more in taxes than Donald Trump. Can't have that.

Mattis today bombs Al-Bab

As the Ruskie's say now:

https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/2...h-coordinates/

Quote:
Al-Bab is one of Daesh’s last remaining strongholds near the Turkish border. Capturing the city is of strategic importance to Turkey in order to prevent the Syrian Kurds taking it and unifying their own territories.
and as Al-monitor said a few months ago:

http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/orig...mic-state.html

Quote:
For more than a month now, the Turkish-led campaign aimed at liberating the town from the jihadists — and importantly to prevent Syrian Kurds from getting there first — has been frustrated by a lack of US support, Russian ambivalence and Syrian and Iranian opposition.
I guess there isn't a lack of support anymore.

Quote:
The formal US stance, however, has been that it will not help the Turkish-backed Operation Euphrates Shield coalition or the Syrian Defense Forces (SDF), led by the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), capture al-Bab. It has refused to do so because it does not want to be dragged into Turkey’s ongoing battle to prevent the Syrian Kurds from linking territories under their control.
Yeah, not anymore. I think ****ing the Kurds is going to be our new policy. Trump much prefers dictators like Putin and Erdogan to democracy.

Be xêr çî Rojava.

Seems like some "liberals" are big fans of the TPP now that Trump has actually opposed it and formerly 'withdrawn'.

Who are you talking about? Hardly anyone here was against the TPP.

I'm pretty sure "Good for him. He's smart." would be the Trumpkin response.

I don't think there's a chance that the problem is that he makes a lot of money and pays so little in taxes. He'd brag about that with no problem.

He doesn't have that much money
There's a bunch of illegal stuff
he owes a lot of people a lot of money
he has a lot of conflicts of interest he doesn't want known

Probably all of the above.

This could be the first president ever to never get a second of positive press. It's wall to wall 100% admonishment.

I was not specifically referring to twoplustwo. I am curious if you spend any time reading other political hubs online, comments, views, various twitterspheres, etc?

(I myself need to limit my reading addiction as I have other more important things to focus on, but junkies gonna junkie :/ )

No. I look at news sites, though I usually get there from googling a subject. Google news and the real physical newspaper and magazines at the library are where I just look at news without searching. This is the only place I post. No other social media, political or otherwise.

There's a difference between hearing he paid no taxes and seeing the actual number on paper. Everyone knows what their tax form looks like. Everyone knows to look in the column and see what a big bite the damn gubmint took out. Seeing Trump's add up to zero could have a visceral impact. Or not - I could once again be over-estimating Trumpfans.

Days after being sworn in, President Trump insisted to congressional leaders invited to a reception at the White House that he would have won the popular vote had it not been for millions of illegal votes, according to people familiar with the meeting.

Trump has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that widespread voter fraud caused him to lose the popular vote to Hillary Clinton, even while he clinched the presidency with an electoral college victory.

Two people*familiar with the meeting said Trump spent about 10 minutes at the top of the gathering with Republican and Democratic lawmakers rehashing the campaign. Trump also told them that between 3 million and 5 million illegal votes caused him to lose the popular vote.
Did they tell him that sh*t's only to repress the vote, it's not actually real?

May have been mentioned already but wow, this guy is a total and complete joke/laughingstock 2 days in. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

Trump names his Inauguration Day a ‘National Day of Patriotic Devotion’

On Monday, the paperwork was filed with the federal government declaring officially that Jan. 20, 2017 — the day of Trump's inauguration — would officially be known as the “National Day of Patriotic Devotion.”

“Now, therefore, I, Donald J. Trump, president of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Jan. 20, 2017, as National Day of Patriotic Devotion, in order to strengthen our bonds to each other and to our country — and to renew the duties of government to the people,” the order says.

Obama declared his inauguration some holiday too. Though it was something a bit more modest.
