Most peaceful time in world history afaik

Snark aside - obviously there is conflict in the Middle East. I still stand by my description of the period as peaceful and prosperous. Not for all, mind you, but for many, and certainly relatively high %s of people when compared w the past.

OK, but he wasn't President of the world. No extra **** has actually started yet (OK maybe Yemen) so is Trump accruing credit for that, too? Also, you guys are in conflict with how many groups, in how many countries? Trump didn't do that (and I know Obama didn't do all of it). I just mean that defining 'peace' solely as some function of 'how many dead US soldiers am I hearing about' is the only way your statement can hold any weight. And I mean, congrats on being President during the rise of drone technology, Obama. Good call.

Add Washington of the list of China, Israel, Mexico, and Iran.

Despite the obvious historical issues, and their continued lack of 'diplomatic' relations, there's been a lot of signs in the last 5 - 10 years of significant contact and mutually beneficial behaviour between the Israeli and Saudi intelligence and military. The wiki page on their relations is a decent summary.

Not that the US can't have contradictory allies, what with it's support of the Syrian 'rebels' & Turkey simultaneously with the northern Syrian Kurdish forces - though the latter seem to have been about to be sold down the river for some time now (though, as Microbet correctly points out incredibly admirably holding their own). It does seem possible to do some tricky alliancing, at least in the short term.

How are you defining peace?

Absence of long-term shooting-engagement military commitments. I'll ask how you're defining it, but I'll also note this is not a particularly urgent discussion. I just think it's silly to describe a Presidency that saw constant rolling engagement with numerous different groups as notably peaceful.

With Javanka dark for Shabbat, expecting an epic Twitter meltdown after the Washington TRO.

You should be worried. Foreigners coming to the US on vacation now face the same "extreme vetting" that refugees will face. It's expected to hurt the US economy bigly.

Honestly, the gf and I were looking to book a trip stateside soon but its tough to tacitly condone whats going on. That and us immigration/customs is an absolute ball ache at the best of times I imagine its total chaos at the moment.

Yea, why would you want to come here? And god forbid your skin color is any shade north of albino. Go to Canada.

As an American, I would definitely advise boycotting travel to the United States "until we can figure out what is going on." Hit these corporations where it hurts.

Cities didn't vote for trump, so it'll just hurt non trump voters.
