Even if it was true, I am in Montana!

HB246 ftw http://data.opi.mt.gov/bills/2009/billhtml/HB0246.htm

A personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in Montana and that remains within the borders of Montana is not subject to federal law or federal regulation, including registration, under the authority of congress to regulate interstate commerce.
Can't wait to get a PPK and put a silencer on it, Wesker007. Only thing that sucks is that I want to get a new gun next month but if I wait until October I won't have to register it. Who wants to make $2?

do you need a license? what about cc? (i'm not familiar with gun laws too well so srry if its a dumb question)

Do not need a license to buy or own a firearm in Montana. Still need a conceal carry license though. At first HB246 got rid of the license requirement for conceal carry but it got taken out. Montana is a "shall issue" state, basically if you apply you will get it unless you are a felon.

do you live near billings?
05-18-2009 , 06:43 AM
I live about 250 miles away from Billings but I have friends and family there so I visit often. Theres a good chance I will be moving there this summer.

This is not true - I have several friends with well over 12 guns and way more than 1,000 in ammo, some of whom are dealers I have never heard this before, and many of them are "rules nits" when it comes to gun laws.

yeah we discovered that was a proposed law, not a real one

Anyone hear of this? Dunno how I missed it.

HR45: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill...d?bill=h111-45

Quote:
Require Licensing to anyone who wants to own a gun.
Require each gun owner to submit a current passport size photo to the government.
Require the individual to submit to a thumbprint for the government database.
Creation of a Federal Firearms Card.
Must release any mental health records to the government - so they will be able to decide who can and who cannot own guns.
You would then have to pass a “test” administered by the government that would test you for the following: the safe storage of arms, the safe handling of arms, proper use of firearms in the home and the legal responsibilities of firearm owners.

Don't know if this is OLD! or not, but.

I'm a huge, "quit sticking **** that doesn't even relate to each other in bills" guy, but I found this one interesting.

May 20 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama would sign legislation to curb credit-card fees even if it contains a provision allowing visitors to U.S. national parks to carry guns, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said today.

Only thing stopping me from ordering my 357 is ammo shortage. I can't make sense of buying a new gun when ammo for it is impossible to find. Might have to just buy a couple thousand rounds of 7.62x39mm.

Yea, really no reason for this amendment to be attached to this bill. It also doesn't allow people to carry guns into all national parks, just those whose states would allow it.
