I'm considering a carbine that most likely uses .357 magnum/38sp or .30-30 WIN just for more clarification.

i used to have a lot of fun plinking with a .22 lever action as a kid...i use a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington on the rare occasion i go deer hunting, besides sighting it in i rarely shoot it because the ammo is ****ing expensive but its a nice rifle and caliber for my purposes

Re: *** Politics Gun Owners Thread***
Well, obviously a huge safe full of different guns for different uses is ideal, but the question was specifically about a "One gun multipurpose tool" scenario.
Plus I like to be able to use all my weapons in the most effective way. You may have all these brilliant home invasion plans, but the fact of the matter is, you may panic, and you'll probably just grab a gun and it may not be ideal for the task, but I think we'd all agree when you need a gun, the gun in your hand is better than no gun at all.

Lol yeah I was being a little bit sarcastic. Obviously I'm quite comfortable with my pistols, or I wouldn't own them. However, anytime my pistols are near at hand, at least one of my shotguns is as well. A pistols largest advantage over a shotgun is it's convenience to carry around, which I don't bother with anymore. I kind of laugh at myself whenever I'm practicing with my handguns, I know they are the last things I'm going to consider if I ever need a weapon.

I personally use the Sentry Home Defense Center. It holds 2 rifles and two pistols, cell phone and flash light on top.
All my other guns are in a hard safe bolted to the concrete in the basement. I keep an AR, a Mossberg pump and 2 GLOCKs in this, along with both cells and two streamlight strions.

Re: *** Politics Gun Owners Thread***
The only weapon that leaves my safe when I'm home is the shotgun, everything else stays locked up.

The cowboy in me prefers the Mossy, the Operator in me reaches for the AR lol.
In all honesty, particularly when my daughters here, I trust myself with the AR over the Mossy.
It's just a personal comfort thing. I'm certainly not going to advocate for ARs over shotguns for home defense, but it's better for me.

Re: *** Politics Gun Owners Thread***
I don't have kids around the house anymore so it's not an issue. I generally live under the assumption that if I really need the AR I'm ****ed anyway. Kidding, It's just new and I wouldn't be comfortable with it in close quarters.

It's sweet, but the glaring typo in the first sentence on its product page tilts me.

500, 18.5 barrel, ghost ring sights expandable 6 position stock, 5 shot side mount.
It's essentially a zombie gun.

You cannot beat a Mossberg 500 when it comes to a working mans shotgun. So many different ways you can customize them, plus they are dirt cheap. Yeah, you hear guys talking about Benelli, etc, but screw that. What I want in my shotgun is cheap, dependable, and customizable. The Mossberg fits that bill perfectly.
I've only got one, but my parents must have close to a dozen now. They find them at estate sales and pawn shops for quarters on the dollar and buy everyone they can find.

HAI GUISE. A major magazine a sweepstakes drawing for a fancy 1911 and holster rig. (~$3000 worth of stuff) you need facebook and to give them your email but its a sweet pistola.
If you are interested I can PM you a link to enter (full disclosure using my link gives me extra entries). I don't want to post too much and be spamming so just PM if you give a crap.

I'm considering doing the same. Checking gunbroker I've seen many Mossy security models with $60 worth of bolt on **** selling for $500-$600. Seems like a decent way to pick up some extra cash, particularly getting them for nothing at estate sells and such.

Re: *** Politics Gun Owners Thread***
Why is it anytime someone open carries and someone else calls 911 the police respond and detain the guy open carrying. Why aren't the 911 operators properly trained and tell the caller"there are no laws being broken."?
