Remember, the whole point of the interview/article is to paint them in the best possible light. They won't often outright lie but they'll phrase facts in a certain way to make it look much worse than it is. They're damn sure never going to cover up the threat.
Also, anytime you read the phrase "The Officer received
MINOR injuries, you can rest assured that statement is true in the truest sense of the word. I don't know the exact injuries the cop has here are, but it could be anything from a skinned knee to a scratch on his arm. If it was even a laughable injury it would've been phrased "The Officer involved was treated on scene by Atlanta FD and released".
