even if you just checked it 5 times all guns are loaded and will kill the **** out of you, your wife, your dog, your tv, etc etc. treat them as such at all times.

For the record, this is why I got all light headed the time I went shooting, I was completely freaked out by the fact that if I screwed up even slightly, someone could die.

Must have serious discussions with the pre-misses before moving in that direction, but she's certainly indicated that she'd be okay with a gun, so hopefully it won't be too far off.

I guess that could be another thing to ask about at a class, or I noticed there was a home safety class too. Looked interesting.

I wish it was a little easier to find a participating range or whatever. I found a guy with a website that was reminiscent of a geocities page that was local, but that's about it.

if you're not in a big/decent sized city maybe? idk i've always lived in an area that has multiple ranges where classes are offered...the range that i regularly shoot at and where i did my CCW class has a basic handgun familiarization class that is run by a single instructor 1-2 times per week, class sizes are ~10 people
