If you do a couple google searches you can probably find a mail order shop that specializes in AKs. As I said, those guns have a ton of aficionados and therefore there's lots of aftermarket doo-dads out there.

Or talk to a local gun store and ask them if they can recommend you a good gunsmith that will set you up.

In most states you do not need a permit at all to buy a gun. Where it gets tricky is if you want a hand gun to carry concealed, then most states require you to have a permit to carry.

If you want to keep a handgun at home, though, then most states don't require a permit. You need to be 21+ years old to buy a hand gun.

As for rifles and shotguns, there are only a few places in the country that require a permit.

You will need an ID for them to verify the paperwork.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a gun (or any big-ticket item for that matter) at a pawn shop unless I was familiar with the merchandise. Most pawn shops will rip you off and you need to haggle the price with them which is tough to do if you don't know what you would pay elsewhere for the same item.

But if you have any gun question, no matter how technical, there are probably 2 dozen people on that site that will answer your question within an hour.

They also have a "local forums" section so you can go ask the guys there what the laws are in your particular state.

I have a Lee Enfield Mk. III out of historical interest, and a .357 Python 4" because it's the best looking handgun ever made.

I don't really have any guns I "use", but I enjoy the occasional range day with assorted weapons with old buddies who are still in the military, usually stock MP-5s and Glock17. I'll probably get to test the HK416 soon and I am looking forward to that.

The funny thing about the law is you have to be 21+ to buy a handgun, but only 18 to own one. (at least in MT)

Re: ***Official Politics Gun Owners Thread***

So I have a professor that I'm very close with and he said he knows some people at some Connecticut school for grad work (I'll be done with my bachelors in about a year's time), and he'd write me a good recommendation etcetc.

I'm looking over connecticut's gun laws, jesus ****ing christ. Registration, permits, waiting periods. Vomit. Plus, I think the AK 47 is absolutely banned there unless you have a Certificate of Ownership issued by the State from pre 1994.

Why so cheap? Though I've been hearing whispers of price reductions in the gun market.

Sighted in the rifles yesterday in preparation for hunting season. 1 .30-30 and 2 .30-06's. All are dialed in nicely.

Should have practiced avoidance, imo....

Thinking about getting one of these:

Looks like it could be a fun plinking gun.

Hope none of you are in California. You'll soon need to be thumb printed and have records kept for 5 years on ammo purchases:
