its a renewal class i'm guessing he isn't going to be learning a bunch of new info. who cares what he brings to pass the proficiency test, its a joke for anyone with mediocre or better marksmanship skills and i doubt he will be drawing from a holster during the test

interesting, is that true? I'm not familiar with guvment mandated CC classes but any that don't have you demo holster work at least unloaded seems to be a joke.

I think they do. I can do a TR.

But I also could bring the can for the Glock 21-- its just the polite thing to do, isn't it?

In the CCW class I took, we didn't draw from the holster once. All he tested was to see if we could keep our shots on target (well, reasonably close to the target). Some of the students clearly knew little about guns. When they ran through the tap, rack, bang drill, a couple of people didn't know what they were doing.

In the Texas CHL class, you do not draw from the holster, or even bring a holster. The gun was supposed to be on the counter facing downrange at all times except the shooting drills.

Here all you have to do is take a handgun safety course, prove you passed, then send the state a check. Renewal is just paying the fee again. Holster drawing would be dependent on the course..there are tons of options that meet the CCW requirement.

Re: *** Politics Gun Owners Thread***

I personally like Glocks because I think they're king when reliability is key.

Reasons for Glock hate that come to mind:

They have polymer components. "omg guns shudnt be plastic!..."

The grip is relatively large. Can be unwieldy for people with small hands.

The rise of the Glock is perceived as a threat to 1911 fan boys.

They're ugly.

They have several safeties, but none are of the conventional type that allow the user to essentially "turn the gun off." This can prove to be problematic for certified dip****s.

Glocks are associated with thug culture.

Glocks are also associated with cops.

My only real gripe with the Glock is the terrible trigger. I'm in the process of looking for a good trigger upgrade now.

I'm sure I missed a bunch of stuff that the real Glock haters will be happy to fill us in on.

god awful ergonomics, marginal accuracy, idiotic trigger safety, feels like its about to fly apart in your hand while shooting, LOL factory sights, poor QC in recent years, deceptive sometimes immoral corporate culture. etc etc

there are tons of great pistols out there. Glocks are fine but not the indestructible perfect device that fanbois would have you believe. Its exactly what you would expect from a $4-500 pistol.

Never knew that U thing was an actual "Factory Sight" I thought it was just a plastic piece to keep dust out of the holes until you installed sights.

Re: *** Politics Gun Owners Thread***

If you want the best police sidearm ever made get a CZ75. If you want an awesome poly gun get an HK P30 with the LEM trigger setup. Also the Smith & Wesson M&P is awesome but has a mushy trigger and sometimes accuracy issues.
