Anyone here reload their own ammo? Seemed like almost everyone at the USPSA match I went to collected their brass to reload.
I found this site:
http://www.survivalblog.com/2009/06/...ory_loads.html
that calculates the cost savings you get from reloading. The data is 3 years old, but apparently, you need to reload 5000 rounds of handgun ammo in order to make up for the cost of reloading equipment. Not to mention the 25 hours it takes to reload 5000 rounds (approximately 200 rounds per hour is what I saw on one forum). Plus, the site is from 2009 when, iirc, the US had an ammo shortage. The shortage is over, so I would assume that ammo is even cheaper now.
Rifles are, of course, another subject. Rifle ammo is more expensive and you get a bigger savings--it only takes 1000 rounds to make up the cost of the reloading equipment.
