Good luck finding a Gen 1 G17 though.
so the gun itself can be from any time - just the mag has to be from pre 1992.

you think i could get pre-ban mags for the G17?

would such a thing exist for the XDm I wonder?

We've discussed this before, but I still have no idea how a prosecutor intends to prove in court a magazine was manufactured prior to 1992.

I can definitively prove when a gun was manufactured (usually).

Re: *** Politics Gun Owners Thread***

well, i just googled it, for example, the XD wasn't made until 1998 so any mags for it will be post-ban.

but certain magazines just weren't in production until after 1992

seems like glock 17 is a good way to go. maybe a H&K USP.

basically i need recommendations for guns that were already in production prior to 1992.

Glock 17
Baretta 9mm
USP
________ (feel free to add on if you know any)

HAI GUISE back after teh hack... working in boston. I will back to talk about gunz and **** later when im done working.

eta: General please describe in detail the nature of your jams w/ the 10/22

And the pistol you want is a Smith and Wesson M&P... period. Unless maybe its a Glock. And as has been discussed ad nauseum ITT and others basically the M&P is a Glock that has been perfected. The trigger is not quite as nice but until you get some time with it you wont be able to tell and then you can replace the trigger.

M&P or a Glock will be cheap and reliable, and perfect for learning. the M&P is a little safer for a pistol noob.

ya exactly. m&p was made like 8 years ago, no pre ban mags for it.

USP 9mm looks like i might have success there. what do you guys think of the USP?

neblis, the 10/22 25rounders (ruger factory) - even when manually unloading, some of the rounds get stuck in the magazine. it's a common problem with them and ruger replaces for free, but i live in a <10 round state so they won't send to me, so it's kind of a pain in the ass for me to replace.

Re: *** Politics Gun Owners Thread***

A USP is too big for me, but then again I actually carry.

Overall in a vacuum, H&K's are high qualify pistols.

They're just a bitch to carry.

i have a taurus millenium pro 9mm and it's damn reliable. i can count on probably half a hand the amount of times it's jammed/misfired over several thousand rounds.

Re: *** Politics Gun Owners Thread***

You ever frozen it in a solid block of ice, used another gun to shoot it out of that block of ice, picked it up, tossed it into a 1200*F oven to melt the ice off, chunked it for several minutes into a bucket of ice water, tied it to the bumper of your truck and drag it down 4 miles of dirt road, pick it up and fire 5k rounds of +P ammo through it without a malfunction?

Has this been done with other quality 1911s?

Re: *** Politics Gun Owners Thread***

I really was just screwing around with that post, but on a serious note, I think price point matters. I'm much more interested in how the Glock compares to other guns is the ~$500 range.

I'm not surprised if a $1300 gun outperforms a $500 gun. In fact I'm somewhat disappointed if it doesn't.
