I heard hand loading supplies is hard to find and uber expensive now too, would it still be profitable? I'd have to buy necessary equipment too.

What I find funny about ATF is everything in their name is legal.

Alcohol - Legal
Tobacco - Legal
Firearms - Legal

The strange thing is that I've read about 8 articles on this and still have yet to find one that discusses exactly how he ended up getting arrested. I'm wondering how the ATF discovered this, and even at the ATF level didn't go "You're a moron, get off my phone".

My mini 14 can be modded (by putting a staple into the trigger unit) to fire twice (once when you pull the trigger, and once when you let go). It's a sweet idea, though I've yet to see someone skilled enough at it to not have constant jamming problems.

Yeah, you can't buy ATF hats anywhere, aside from being employed there..

Yeah, other governmental agencies, like the FCC, only monitor things that are illegal, like phones, television, communications..

ya that is definitely the weirdest part of this whole deal (i guess i almost expect the government to pull **** like this)...i can't come up with any explanation, if someone at the range noticed it how would they know he wasn't rapid firing? i can't see them turning him in anyway especially since he had been firing the gun for so long before the malfunction occurred.

That's what I don't understand. Even though I'm a cop, I'm not certified for Class 3 weapons, but I have a few friends on SWAT who are, and we have taken his full auto weaponry to a public range out of uniform (totally, the bag was just black, it didn't say "POLICE" or "SWAT" or anything) and we stand there firing 30 and 40 round mags on full auto and other than a few people coming down to check it out, we've never had the cops called on us. This makes no sense. Something is missing here.

ETA: Before someone asks, we were using ammo we bought, not his govt issued ammo for this.

Yeah, how many guns does the FCC have?

someone PM'd me asking about how to get an automatic weapon. I did some googling, and it is apparently no where near as difficult as I thought it was? I thought you needed a class III permit, but apparently thats only if you want to sell it - the only extraneous requirement is to pay a $200 tax - well, that, and that the weapons themselves cost around $10k lolz.

Can anyone confirm/deny my findings? As my understanding stands, getting a machine gun/submachine gun would not be such a bad idea.

I haven't even looked into it since I'm not in CA, but my understanding was that some states make it very easy to get full-autos. I didn't think they would really cost 10k though.

As I understand it, and I could be wrong, there is additional paperwork that must be signed when you take possession of the firearm, one of which is a form waiving your 4th amendment rights irt the ATF coming into your home whenever they want to see if you still have possession of the weapon and that it has not been modified in any way from its original condition.

Too high of a price for me personally.
