Paul Ryan, Face of Republican Fiscal Responsibility, Shamelessly Joins Fox Board Paul Ryan, Face of Republican Fiscal Responsibility, Shamelessly Joins Fox Board

The Repulican party has taken the rare step of giving Paul Ryan complete authority over house budgetary matters. He recently revealed his master plan for saving America from bankruptcy: $58 billion in cuts out of a budget deficit of $1.5T. Thanks Paul, we'll be back in the black in no time!

The idea that any party can make any truly big cuts and "save us" is ludicrous.

We need to stop being the police of the world unless absolutely necessary, that'll shave a few hundred billion at least.

Well, duh. At least last time Newt actually made some cuts. This is a complete joke.

I quit paying attention to this guy after he voted "yes" on TARP.

If you actually gave Paul Ryan authoritarian power over US finance, he'd fix the deficit.

He's gotta play nice. Clipped wings make it difficult to make radical changes so you've gotta start somewhere.

For instance, Ryan would implement the flat tax and disband the IRS tomorrow if you let him.

That he's the establishment's choice for the face of Republican fiscal conservatism tells you all you need to know

He's more or less the only Republican with national stature who speaks in complete sentences.

You guys just have no clue.

We need to set up a capitalistic system based on teh Ferengi Rules of Aquisition.
02-05-2011 , 05:03 PM
The voters don't actually want cuts.
02-05-2011 , 05:03 PM
This is beyond standard. People don't like increased taxes but they don't like decreased spending. Announcing what you plan to cut is almost always going to piss even most republicans off, therefore you're vague and never actually promise to cut anything significant

Even for Republicans, this is pathetic. You could cut like one order of planes and save this much.

So ya, I guess on his gigantic list, he does throw defense in as a token cut at the second smallest thing cut percentwise

I wasn't making a comment about his sincerity. I'm merely "suggesting/implying" that even just saying the words is difficult for him; probably because he knows what kind of consequences his party can drop on him.

"Hopefully I didn't say anything that will hurt me too bad, right?"

you forgot to add:

Social Security Administration: no cuts
Abolish National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, Commission on Fine Arts.

Guy at least knows who it is that got him elected.
