Mass shooting at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand. Guy is an anti-Islamic white supremacist. Somewhere around a dozen people shot, no word on casualties yet. Shooter apparently live-streamed the attack on the internet. The entire Bangladeshi Test Cricket side were at the mosque at the time of the attack, but they are all uninjured.

Edit, this could be bad, here is a witness account:

"I've seen injured would be about 50 or 60 people," the man said, but death - I hope it is less. But, actually, when you get out you don't look at what's happening.

"You want to get out of it."

"All my God, I think [it lasted] about 20 minutes.

"He came one side, he shoot this side, he went to another room and went to the ladies' section and shot them."

The shooter is still at large.

The shooter is an Australian national. Great.

The footage he took is all over the internet. I'm not going to watch it.

Poor Christchurch. The city was really traumatised by the 2011 earthquake, it was a bit of a Hurricane Katrina situation, it's been a slow recovery, now this.

People who actually watched the video (not doing that myself) are estimating 25-50 dead.

Police confirm in a press conference that there are people dead (obviously) and that there were shootings at two mosques. The known shooter is in custody. It's not clear if he acted alone or not.

Gonna be rough for that community in Christchurch. Some back of the envelope math suggests the number of Muslims in Christchurch is only about 3,000.

NZ is not racist in general but Christchurch does have some neo-Nazi groups. Just now I spoke to a guy I know who grew up there and he confirmed this. Also, a while back, maybe 10 years ago, I was there one night and there were literal pimps in Nazi uniforms on a main street of the city yelling abuse at people of color as they drove past. I assume this was unusual but it was one of the craziest things I've ever seen in a developed city.

In this case though, the known shooter at least was Australian and seems to have been extremely online, so idk if it'll have anything to do with the super-racist fringe. I guess we'll see.

There are only a few countries ive wanted to visit and NZ is one of them. Whole things sad. Feels like America is exporting our extremism but i guess that is everywhere.

Definitely visit NZ, it's awesome, it's a contender for my favourite country on the planet.

I feel bad saying this, but Christchurch sucks. It's a sister city to Adelaide, is 1/3rd the size and 3 times as boring. It's very dull. Also, like I was saying earlier, the 2011 earthquake really damaged the place, physically and socially.

I have never heard of Candace Owens (and I don't think I want to), but if a white supremacist who just massacred dozens (?) of people has cited your views as being very influential in his thinking, I would maybe take this as an opportunity to review my views, my words, my messaging. etc. At a fricking minimum. Condemning the massacre would be human and humane as well.

Doubling down on your views at this time is monstrous.
