Re: Politics Drunk Thread 2012

I have hit the booze way too hard the past few weeks.... trying to self mredicate some persistent pain. Today, yesterday now, was my birthdaty... preety drunk, tomorrow is st pattys/st baldricks (baldys is a charity fundraiser for kids w/ cancer) which I attend every year. (LOL I know, a heartless libertarian giving to charity, that never hapens) And in a week I am taking a family vaacation which will likely be spent buzzzed for a majority of the time.

Come April Fool's Day, I gotta take a step back, my 42 year old liver has had a rough draw dealing with me the last 3 decades, time to give ole ironsides a well needed rest methinks. I'm thinking a 2 month sober de-rehabificaton...

Yes, this, but no.

Opiates work best for specifically pain relief, but they are not optimal if weed can suffice.

Ganj is a basic, use every day remedy which will never kill or addict you no matter how you use it.

I am drunk right now and should only be posting in this thread. However I will probably post in each and every other one until I get distracted by something else. Wish me luck and sorry in advance

Re: Politics Drunk Thread 2012

Weed doesn't help me much with pain, opiates sure do though. Opiates are far better than just about anything for pain. Addictive ofc but not really dangerous as far as risk of death. It's pretty tough to overdose on any opiates other than intravenous drugs like heroin or morphine, because stuff like percocet taken orally takes quite a while to metabolize. Injected heroin goes straight to the brain though. As far as pills go, the damage that is going to be done from overdosing on them will be from the acetaminophen, which is some pretty bad **** imo.

I agree with your specific assessment, but opiates are difficult substances to properly manage, especially for long term problems.

MJ, while not specifically addressing pain very convincingly, has a wide range of ancillary benefits and poses very little risk so it is my default recommendation.

And yeah, acetaminophen is awful, as are most pharms.

Re: Politics Drunk Thread 2012

I can agree imo. The problem with long term management with opiates is you have to keep upping and upping your dose to get the same effect.

One thing is for sure though. Smoking some weed and taking some percocet is pretty effin great.

Re: Politics Drunk Thread 2012

no no no no no on the alcohol on top imo

that **** is walking on the edge. I had a minor OD on some codeine cough syrup and alcohol. A few more drinks or a few more table spoons and I could have died imo. Since then I don't touch alcohol when I'm on opiates.

Re: Politics Drunk Thread 2012

Well, that's very wise. My inability to always say no to a couple beers is prob part of why I advocate for MJ so much. If you keep it to MJ and beer it's very difficult to hurt yourself and the benefits can be pretty good!

Opiates are tricky stuff, unless of course we are talking about god honest opium. Once you get into the pharms it really pays to be paranoid.

AKA I agree with you

Re: Politics Drunk Thread 2012

I could never get into weed, I'm too overindulgent. For instance, I moved into a house with what I thought were just random people, but turned out to be hippies. So I smoked with them a bit, and being a man of course I decided to keep up with them when it came to smoking. That was a mistake. I basically spent a day a week over those 3 months getting incredibly paranoid and feeling like I was going to die. Since then I've avoided it entirely, just not a way I want to feel. There was also an incident with a vaporizor, which I actually handled better than normal weed, but all the people at the speakeasy kept disappearing and reappearing, which was odd. It could have been the speakeasy's custom beer that helped that situation get weird, but who knows.

I'm sure if I just smoked a little it would have been more fun and less paranoia death, but I never really cared to test that theory.

Yeah, it's a real shame that the war on drugs has kept vital information about how to properly use and enjoy drugs in the closet.

Of course you may just be a person for whom the drug isn't a good fit - but I doubt it.

Re: Politics Drunk Thread 2012

It's just my nature. I as a standard think "This isn't affecting me", so I keep imbibing and weed I feel isn't good in excess, so it doesn't fit my personality. I've tried more drugs than the average person, and most just don't fit me well. I liked shrooms, that's about it.
