The implication that Krugman cares enough to go out of his way to compromise his intellectual/academic integrity to trash Nate Silver is laughable.

Krugman is hardly alone in panning 538, and it's not like 538 is pumping out data-driven Austrian economics that Krugtard has to bash because it threatens the Zionist plot to debase pvn's mattress stuffed with currency.

Nate's column assumes the quality of his work has been constant. It's the kind of zero-level critical thinking Nate Dog is supposed to be against.

No, it doesn't.

You should try reading it. He explicitly does not do this.

Krugman thinks the answer to every problem is to borrow more money.. meanwhile the American national debt is nearly 20,000,000,000,000,$$$.

Good point, there are so many zeros and dollar signs this must be very bad! I'd much prefer if the national debt was only $20T, that would be way better.

This is why I generally stay away here, and I think it's a good idea to get away again.

Assuming you're a liberal (since it was obviously sarcastic) take a look back and realize that you're post is ignorant and racist. I know the point you were trying to make, and you could have made it without implying that your opponents don't care only because some of the workers may not have been white.

But I guess that's easier than debating the actual issues, such as Krugman's
(IMO) nutty positions and his clear superiority complex.

Jon Chait wrote a good piece on this.
Quote:

The real cause of Krugman’s disdain is the sheer ambition of Silver’s new venture. Silver’s great added value was to bring basic statistical literacy to the fields of political forecasting and sports commentary, which are dominated by old-line hacks who rely on horse sense and either disdain data in any form or use data very badly.

The new FiveThirtyEight tries to expand this revelatory contribution to other fields. The trouble is that many of those fields, like economics and climate science, already have real experts. Silver’s role, at least in its crudest form, represents the kind of autodidactism that Krugman rose to fame decrying. His war against Silver is nothing terribly new, but merely the return of an old love, or, more accurately, an old hate.

Posts from 11 months ago are why you're avoiding the forum? (and in that near-year this was the best one you could find to try and make that point)

Wow the forum has really been missing out on such great insights. How will we go on?

I actually had no idea I was responding to a post that old, I was just browsing and wanted to comment on that for whatever reason that night. It was from the page right before this so yeah... my bad.

LOL. You want a compliment or something? Like, about what should we compliment you? Every post I've seen you make in Politics has been whining about how someone telling the truth hurt your feelings.
