***Official Ron Paul News/Media/Polls 2012 Thread--NOT FOR DEBATE***

Hopefully the title says it all. As we can see from the incredible interest in Ron Paul on these forums, both from the lovers and the haters, there is plenty of reason to have separate threads for separate purposes.

There are a few individual threads debating very specific issues and then there is the containment thread which is now basically dominated by debating theory and or other random positions.

There are many people who would like a thread exclusively for checking and discussing the latest news/media/polls on Ron Paul and have discussion concentrated to those subjects. It would be perfectly appropriate to comment positively or negatively about any given video, article, or poll posted in this thread but the line obviously has to be drawn when debates spin off from that discussion.

Mods, I plead with you to give this thread a chance. There was a ton of interest in the containment thread before it was host to many debates. Now that it is mostly a debate thread (nothing at all wrong with that), I think it's appropriate that a thread like this is also allowed to exist for people who want to see and discuss the latest news.

So this is the thread where we laugh at his results?

Re: ***Official Ron Paul News/Media/Polls 2012 Thread--NOT FOR DEBATE***

That would be fine. It is a thread to see clearly results (rigged/fraudulent or not ) as well as other current news.

For example: http://www.dailypaul.com/213709/rp-s...-the-actual-vo

"Chairman of Belfast Maine Caucus Calls State GOP to Confirm Vote Tally, result "not even close" to the actual vote"

Or on a more somber note:

http://www.gallup.com/poll/election.aspx
Paul at only 8% in latest gallup national poll.

It should also be mentioned that discussion of intrade odds are fair game as well as videos or articles that just briefly mention Paul or interviews with staff like Doug Wead. Basically all current news can go here and it isn't meant to be overly tyrannical but rather just not be dozens of posts between any news or discussion of news.

So are they letting the county in Maine that didn't get to vote because of the snowstorm vote his weekend? I've seen it mentioned a few times but never saw a confirmation.

(And I think the multi thread option can work....mostly it's up to people to move non news stuff to the other thread before it starts dominating here. )

I don't think Wookie is going to be happy with this thread.

Given the monstrosity that is the Ron Paul thread, I don't see why he wouldn't like it. Assuming people can manage to not clog up this thread with abortion, gay marriage, and the confederacy it could actually make Wookie's job easier. At least the people who only want to keep up with the news won't bitch (as much) about the other RP thread.

If you have $ bets on states and shady sh** is going on, how are you settling the bets? I mean are your bets nuanced to the extent that you are betting on the official RNC press release or are you betting on who gets the majority of votes after 100% accurate reporting? Would you feel wrong accepting payment for betting against Paul in Maine right now?

These caucuses are unbelievably messy and it does (at least to me) seem like they are messy in Romney's favor consistently.

So far none of the bets I have made have been overturned or unclear....but you are correct that some possible bets could have been controversial (Romney winning Iowa). If Paul ends up winning after the snow county votes I have no problem paying out because that seems pretty clear.

It's sort of funny that this system is so opaque, ambiguous and downright silly that it makes difficult to clearly wager a few grand on the outcome...yet we use it to decide the leader of the free world

Max and I made the bet based on the wikipedia map shown here. I assume the map will be updated if Paul wins the popular vote in Maine, just like it was updated after Santorum was declared the winner of Iowa. I didn't spend too much time thinking about what to use... the wiki map just seemed like the most logical. I'm not going to try to win the bet by saying fraud cost Paul the win. That's impossible to prove. Counting the full vote (like in Maine) will count I think.
