"Separate but equal" was considered a "realistic compromise between two warring groups" at one time, too. It was stupid then and it's stupid now.

I don't know. Feel free to go find some religious zealots and argue the point. I'm sure you'll find them to be exceptional reasonable and logical.

I'm not saying these people are sane, you know. The fact that they aren't sane is all the more reason to not declare war on them.

Also, I'm not even saying that I agree with GJ's position, I just don't see it as being that terrible. The man is just trying to be reasonable in an unreasonable fight.

1. Not really, no.

2. That **** wasn't deeply rooted in religion and didn't involve religious cermonies. If you think declaring war on bigotry is the same as declaring war on religions, you need to think again.

FOX NEWS ANNOUNCES ENTRY CRITERIA FOR MAY 5 SOUTH CAROLINA GOP DEBATE

FOX News has released its criteria for entry into the South Carolina Republican Party debate on May 5th, announced Michael Clemente, Senior Vice President of News for the network.

In making the announcement, Clemente said, “Every potential debate candidate must meet all six steps of the following criteria no later than 5 PM/ET on Friday April 29th in order to be eligible for participation in the debate.”

Criteria for entry are as follows:

• Must register a presidential exploratory committee or have announced a formal campaign for president; and

• Must file all necessary paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC); and

• Must file all necessary paperwork with the South Carolina Republican Party; and

• Must have paid all federal and South Carolina filing fees; and

• Must meet all U.S. Constitutional requirements; and

• Must have garnered at least an average of one percent in five national polls based on most recent polling leading up to April 29th, 2011

If Santorum can get 2% I don't see how Johnson can't get the 1% needed to qualify, but I can't seem to find any national polls with his name on them. Anyone?

Good to see the mainstream media keeping us informed.

His site now appears to be fully operational: http://www.garyjohnson2012.com/ .

I like the title "The People's President", I think it would appeal a lot to independents and progressives in the general, although the likelihood of him making it to the general is pretty slim.

A Politics story that ABC News clearly considers more important than GJ's candidacy:

"Obama Gets Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg To Wear Tie"

And to keep things Fair And Balanced (tm), FoxNews considers this far more important:

"Obama to Supporters: I Understand Your Frustration Over Compromise With GOP"

To be fair, cnn updated their political ticker 22 mins ago with Johnson's announcement: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...of-contenders/

It even highlights all of his liberal positions.

Even with media attention he has no chance. Not hating on gays, marijuana, allowing Mexican workers to enter the country to work, ending/reducing farm subsidies, slashing War. Is anyone delusional enough to think media attention will improve his chances of winning?

Of course media attention will improve his chances of winning. Will it be enough? Unless the GOP has changed dramatically since the 2008 primaries, almost certainly not.

EDIT: Besides, getting the message out is just as important as winning, and the more media attention the better when it comes to spreading the message.
