Anyone planning to attend?

I shall be there in full revolutionary fervor. They have never witnessed an implacable fanaticism such as mine. Imagine Hitler mixed with equal parts Lenin and Tony Montana on a coke rage and you'll begin to get the picture. I'll be bringing my own microphone and soapbox as I intend to demagogue directly to my people.

Not sure whether you're trolling me or not, but I'm planning to go.

Question: if you get arrested at one of these protests, what are you likely to be charged with? Civil disobedience? I'm not looking to land myself a criminal record

So you sound pretty committed then. I love bumper sticker radicals.

My friends that got arrested at Occupy protests didn't get charged with anything more than a misdemeanor. Just be sure to follow up with subsequent court appearances, and there is a good chance fines/court fees could run you a few hundred bucks.

If you are serious about participating in civil disobedience, I'd suggest meeting up with other like-minded people prior to the event. There were meetings for ~months prior to Occupy. Those meetings are invaluable because you'll learn a lot, meet other people and build solidarity. For each person that gets arrested, there are at least 2-3 providing support to those people. You really want to know who those support people are. If you're willing to be arrested, people are willing to have your back.

Be sure to use a sharpie and write important phone numbers on your body, because when you do get to use a phone post-arrest, there's a good chance they aren't going to let you use your cell phone to look up a number.

Best of luck.

There will be someone there passing out flyers on what to do if arrested.

Power to the people! Try getting a job or better yet try creating a company! Then you can save the world with your own money...assuming you make any money.
09-18-2014 , 03:11 PM
Why don't poor people just borrow money from their parents and friends and start a company? I don't understand???
09-18-2014 , 03:39 PM
that is the attitude, people can't make it because they are poor!

excuses - carry on.
09-18-2014 , 03:40 PM
Just no good bootstraps these days smh
09-18-2014 , 03:56 PM
nope they are just unfortunate - we all know if you don't come from money you will be held down and behind forever! can't find any examples of people building a life for themselves... it is a shame in this country you don't control your destiny anymore!!
09-18-2014 , 03:57 PM
No one said there were zero example of people building a lives for themselves AFAIK

Good turnout. No one had a concrete plan though, which would have been nice. My family told me they saw me on CNN

"No one had a concrete plan" this is shocking to me..... Lol but at least you were on TV!!!!
09-22-2014 , 10:23 PM
No one has a concrete plan because anyone that tries to emanate an air of authority is immediately labeled a fascist and shouted down. I set up my microphone and soapbox stand and was instantly told to "go **** yourself, Hitler!"

It doesn't help that there's a million different groups with different agendas lining up.
09-23-2014 , 08:49 AM
I think the primary agenda is to bitch and cry about being taken advantage of - I haven't seen much else.
09-23-2014 , 09:19 AM
I'm sure you've looked pretty hard.

Many principle ideas behind occupy wall street is good. Like trying to address income stagnation vs inflation.

The direction of attack is wrong.
