Except this isn't racism. Good try, though.

What I believe is irrelevant. To answer though, no I do not believe the only reason black people are less educated is because they choose not to be.

However, on some level, which I do consider to be decently large. Yes, often times they choose to let themselves be held down.

Is the system racist by definition? In my opinion, maybe. Is this program racist by definition? I don't see how the answer is anything other than a resounding "yes".

This program isn't trying to end racism. It's trying to end disparate results in education along racial lines. It's hard to fix that problem without addressing the fact that race exists and it effects what kind of education you get.

specfically number 3

If you want to say that number 3 is not a valid definition of racism..sure, whatever. Neither your opinion or mine is more correct.

However if you agree with number 3 how can you say this program is not intolerant of white people (or any other color).

If we want to get beyond race, WE CANT KEEP SPECIFYING THINGS BY RACE.

Personally, I don't give a ****. We will never get beyond racism. I'm fine with that. You don't seem to be. Thats also fine.

I would support an office to educate all the mouth breathers,
I don't care what race they are.

Teach em how to read a ruler.
Operate a screwdriver w/o hurting themselves.
Have co-ed home-ec and shop classes.

Stop trying to send drooling idiots to college they can't succeed in,
regardless of race/creed/color/gender.

Yeah, Obama's policy might be screwed up here.
But consider Romney's likely solution:
Sylvan Learning Academy.

So lets say this program exists. Gets blacks on educational level with whites. Then we end it. Cool. Therefor blacks, if they continue to **** up, well then its on them since we started as equals, right? No? I may agree....so then we need more programs that exclude races to fix other issues. Etc etc.

I guess all Im saying is there will ALWAYS be racism. I have no problem with that. And that we still have to say this program is racist.

I guess you don't...that doesnt mean I can't laugh at you and be just as right as you.

Does Sylvan say who can and cant go based on race or color?

The reason that Obama did this racist act, it because anyone who rightly criticizes it will appear racist to democrat-know-nothings.

I have no idea what you are rambling about

Again, the point of this program is not to end racism. Groups that overachieve are subject to discrimination as well. What this is trying to fix is a specific problem that has already been explained to you.

You know what? Just for the sake of moving beyond the semantics of it, I'll grant you whatever your definition of racism is. Go ahead and call the policy racist.

But if that's your definition of racism, then I say not all racism is bad. What is the actual, measurable or palpable bad result of this policy?

Re: Obama announces first ever African-American education office

The problem that poor people get worse educations, and a high percentage of those people is African Americans.

Like TomCollins said, just make it for poor people of all races. It would still "help" black people but would help others as well and wouldn't be racially discriminatory.

Re: Obama announces first ever African-American education office

This is blatantly racism.

It's an office dedicated solely to the betterment of one race. How is saying "This office will not help latino children" not racist??!

****ing ridiculous that people ITT are saying this isn't racist.

Can you ****ing seriously imagine a latino women calling this office, conversation goes like this:

Ms Sanchez: Hola mi nino needs ayudar con el educaciones
Obama: Is he black
Ms Sanches: no, hay espanolez
Obama: sorry, this office doesn't serve your kind

YEAH NOT RACIST AT ALL

We are spending lots of money on a program that won't benefit anyone I care about. That is bad.
