Can someone please tell me where to find a good pen? I'd spend up to $75 or so. I don't want a fountain pen and don't want a pen that uses too much ink and bleeds all over the page.

A really good Uni-ball will set you back about $5.

A pack of uniballs should be easy for your wife to pocket.

Classy. I'm sure if I targeted your hubby personally somehow for a zinger or two I'd be instantly reported for negatively discussing family or launching a personal attack, but alas you're Gizmo. Must be nice to be special.

Speaking of classy, southern strategy denial!

"Worse than the myth and the cliché is the outright lie, the utter fabrication with malice aforethought, and my nominee for the worst of them is the popular but indefensible belief that the two major U.S. political parties somehow “switched places” vis-à-vis protecting the rights of black Americans, a development believed to be roughly concurrent with the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the rise of Richard Nixon. That Republicans have let Democrats get away with this mountebankery is a symptom of their political fecklessness, and in letting them get away with it the GOP has allowed itself to be cut off rhetorically from a pantheon of Republican political heroes, from Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass to Susan B. Anthony, who represent an expression of conservative ideals as true and relevant today as it was in the 19th century. Perhaps even worse, the Democrats have been allowed to rhetorically bury their Bull Connors, their longstanding affiliation with the Ku Klux Klan, and their pitiless opposition to practically every major piece of civil-rights legislation for a century."

Sorry, I thought enough time had passed that we could all laugh at it as an inside joke.

All apologies to your wife.

Are you looking for a ballpoint or rollerball? Check out the Lamy 2000 or All-Star. Also, if you're looking for something funky and pocketable, the Kaweco sport is nice (I have the rollerball and a couple of the fountain versions, not sure about the ballpoint version since it's a clicky pen instead of a screwcap).

Sorry for getting catty. In most cases I definitely don't mind getting flack for various things I've shared around these parts despite them mostly (all?) being true. A very select few I wish I never opened my mouth about, especially since we've got some openly stalkerish posters, and there have certainly been some lines of attack I've taken that were way out of line (sorry again Gizkey).

Live and learn I suppose.

No, but I do want to get myself a nice pen that writes very similarly to a standard uniball. Reached a career milestone and do enough writing by hand that a nice pen would be a great present for myself. I purchased a roller ball pen but it bleeds way too much ink and is tough to write anything besides a signature with.

I bought this and regret it for the reasons already mentioned. Definitely don't want a fountain pen and will not want another rollerball.

You deserve all the flack in the world until you fix that ****ing link.

Back from volunteering for local dem party. Did call banking this time, which was terrible. 75% of the people I spoke to had already been called at least 5+ times in the last couple days. Quite a few irate people, but hopefully I did enough to get their names off the lists and they won't be contacted again. I can only hope.

This left me with a bad taste in my mouth, if Dems can't even get a goddamn spreadsheet figured out. What does that say of the rest of their organizational skills? Definitely got me a little shook, thinking about how the GOTV effort is going in other states. Pretty sure Trump's has to be worse-to-non-existent though.
11-06-2016 , 05:19 PM
You're assuming it's a ****up and not intentional that they're contacting the same people a lot.
11-06-2016 , 05:21 PM
Well, they gave 3 people sitting near me the same contact list for volunteers. So 1 person would talk to someone, the other would be leaving them voice mail, and the 3rd would be about ready to call that same person.

They were working to resolve that when I left.

Liberal arts prof that I really liked is supporting this woman who got triggered over a strip club banner flying over a football game because she didn't know how to explain the advertisement to her two-year old daughter.

The solution:

https://www.gofundme.com/a-banner-over-michigan-stadium

Beg for money from people so you can fly a STOP RAPE banner over the same stadium. Because that will be so much easier to explain to your two-year old, right?

Best thing I've read today even though ive given up football in favor of politics this year. http://deadspin.com/mark-davis-trave...hat-1734022886

Reminds me of trump in some ways.

Like it or not, if you care about pens, you're probably on the road to fountain pen city. If you want to minimize bleeding and aren't already using it, try higher quality paper. Like 80 gsm minimum. Here is a review from Goulet Pens of some rollerballs (they mainly sell fountain pens, but I can personally recommend them for high quality service):

The best part about this story is how there's probably some business oriented magazine or website out there somewhere that goes through all of the exact same details and explains how they make him an awesome, successful businessman.

So the same guy has been ringing my doorbell every single afternoon all week and waking me up. By the time i stumble around getting dressed i usually just spot his stupid looking back of head as he strolls away down the street, probably looking disapprovingly at my leaf-covered yard. And he always leaves the state assemblymen's equivalent of a bag of flaming dog poop crammed into my door: a picture of his stupid face telling me that he was a school teacher and a veteran so i should vote for him. I hate this man with the fire of a thousand suns.
