I missed the fun four years ago, when the mucky-mucks running the GOP caucus shut it down because RP was gonna actually win something

I'm sure everyone will line up for Mittens tomorrow. Destiny and all.

I won't! I will spew forth as much as the constitution as I can remember, while reminding one and all that only RP can bring this country back from the precipice of debt. If the constitution isn't enough to sway my newt-licking neighbors, then I will have to print out all 15,000+ posts in the RP containment thread for them to peruse at their leisure.

Bizzaro land.

I get elected precinct captain. There are only 7 people who show up. I get elected delegate.

People start talking about how they want limited government, more economic freedom, less regulation. I'm thinking "this is awesome- I'm at a Paul lovefest"

Turns out they somehow think that Mittens will provide for them. Mitt 6 Paul 1

I was in precinct 6649, all 6 delegates went to Ron Paul

Can you explain in detail how this process works? I am still confused and really want to understand it.

basically every precinct gets a certain number of delegates...if you are organized well ( which Ron Paul is )....then the more delegates you get, when you make it to the county convention...they can basically all team up and vote for each other and then make it to the state convention and keep voting for each other. The more delegates you have the better shot you will have to send the actual number to the convention.

I'm not sure I can explain it, but here goes:

People meet in small groups according to their precinct. They are allocated a certain number of delegates to the county convention (in the next month or two.) These delegates are not necessarily bound to support any particular candidate. The group then makes small speeches (ours was very informal) about why they like Mitt or Newt or whatever. Then they fill out a ballot and the votes are counted in that precinct and delivered to the GOP organizers.

Note that in 2008, Mitt won Nevada handily at the precinct level, but all 34 of Nevada's delegates to the national convention went to McCain. I think McCain polled 4th place or worse the day of the precinct caucuses.

wow thats really sad, people are truly delusional about Mittens. My only hope is that if Mittens gets elected he does nothing and allows a more libertarian congress to do stuff.

Two people I sat with asked me why I liked Ron Paul because they think he's crazy....I asked them why and they couldn't tell me.....they said they were supporting Mitt, I asked what positions they liked about him....they said they don't know but they think he looks nice and can beat Obama....I then asked why thought Obama was bad and they couldn't tell me...lol voters

Wow, that's an even more farfetched dream than wishing Mitt would do libertarian things.
