Please elaborate how it's not even close.

Where are these China and India you speak of?

You want me to elaborate why I don't view Denmark or Finland as a "great" country, but I do with the United States?
Sorry, no.

OK, but could you just assert it a few more times at least?

Re: Nationalism: Do You Actually Think America is Better Than Other Countries?
America is the name of a continent. United States of America is the name of a country.
On the WW2 stuff, they (USA) sided with Churchill and co cos they were gonna win. If the Germans were chip leaders they woulda bet on them. No biggie, just how it happened.

This thread blows me away. Most Americans are ridiculous, irrational US-homers when they dont have to think about it. This thread explicitly points out how stupid that attitude is, how stupid anyone would have to be to just blindly assert their country was superior just because they happened to be born there. And most of the posters were intelligent enough to understand that, and temper their opinions accordingly...for about five minutes. Then the tards just couldnt help themselves and they started defending militarism and empire no matter the outcome.
Go Packers.

Wait a second. You know that the US was in no mood to get into "their war", right? You know that there was general public sentiment against, right?
We being serious here?

Now the question of is America "better" than other countries is a little loaded, but I would say net, America has been a hugely positive influence on individual liberty world wide.
|
What? Huge goal post shift.
Anyone that thinks the US hasn't been a net positive on the world is as delusional as people who think the US is far and away the best country.
And I don't think there are many (any?) people claiming the US hasn't been a net positive ITT.

They did drag their feet. Then again, some similar propaganda was being used against minorities in the US at the same time. We go try and help the jews while telling Black people they aren't citizens and should be feared(greatly simplified).
That said, I'm glad the US went over there, but it certainly wasn't the US leading the charge. Rwanda was a great encore.

Not to mention that at the time we actively locked up Japanese-Americans.

One would think it'd be simple given your definitive statement.
I mean, if it's based solely just on you raising your fist and saying 'go 'merica!,' that's not really much thought. When you make a definitive statement saying other countries aren't great, yet can't elaborate, you look, well, really shallow in your thought process. Congrats.

I mean honestly, the premise of the question is a little silly. I like America as much as the next guy, but I've lived in/visited Canada, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, England and Austria for weeks/months at a time and I would be very happy living in any of those places. They are all thoroughly lovely places. I am sure there are others, too
