The funny thing is DblJ should be aware of that. But, then again, he claims not to see much racism around Georgia, so perhaps that's expecting too much.

Gawd, go to one 3 hour class and this threads turns into a text abortion

I'm pretty sure there are libraries full of literature talking about how things such as felon disenfranchisement laws disproportionately affect minorities because minorities get convicted of felonies at a higher rate than whites.

I'm still pretty sure claiming blacks are more likely to commit a felony offense than whites is pretty damn racist.

I mean, I haven't read The Turner Diaries or anything, so I may be wrong.

It seemed like we were going somewhere semi-positive not too long ago!!

That clearly actually is racist tho. There's no fitting analogy in the gun rights world though, as it's not as though certain types of guns are more prevalently used by minorities.

On that subject, obviously since I'm against the War on Drugs I am also against stripping gun rights away from drug offenders.

I've also stated there are numerous other non violent offenses which are nowadays considered Felony that I'd like to see exempt.

Guns, race, DBL, gifts for blacks to vote dem, dumb propaganda pictures, hilariously inept attempts to paint others racist, etc.

You missed a great 3 hours.

That is absolutely the argument.

You're insane if you think for one second you wouldn't be compared to Ron Paul and David Duke by the gun control lobby if you made the argument that felony restrictions disproportionately affect minorities.

The funny thing is he may not actually realize he's misrepresenting anything.

But hey, since a huge portion of felony convictions are for drug crimes, and since drug laws are racist, clearly there's nothing racist about taking away guns from felons?

And even for violent crimes, minorities, esp. black people, are more likely to face tougher charges and are more likely to get convicted. That's not a statement that's racist against minorities. It's an indictment of white people.

There is nothing racist about saying that loss of civil rights due to felony convictions disproportionately affects minorities. That is, in fact, recognizing how racist our justice system/rest of government is.

DBJ, I'm right there with you in that I hate being labelled a racist on bull**** grounds.

However, whatever the color of one's skin or eyes or hair or anything, would it be fair to say that in GA or elsewhere in the USofA#1 that if you are accused of a crime (that may or may not be a felony), you are at somewhat of a disadvantage if you can not afford an attorney and therefore you are appointed a public defender?

I'm not addressing larger systemic racism/class warfare issues atm. Just a question to make a point. BTW, there are ****-tons of poor white folk in GA (not directed at DBJ but just sayin' for anyone who hasn't been there).

You know what. I really can't argue with it put that way.

Felony restrictions are as racist as the rest of gun control law in this country.
