Holy **** this whole gun discussion is dumbfounding to me.

I've always been fascinated by Timothy McVeigh and have read as much as I can get my hands on about the Oklahoma bombing. His philosophy of "they can take my guns from my cold, dead hands" is really similar to a lot of gun nuts I know, and hauntingly similar to attitudes displayed here.

He saw the feds as wanting to take his freedom away, so he took his rage out on a federal building. He saw that as a justifiable response to what happened at Waco. ok, so he had a few screws loose, but when you allude to the fact you'd be willing to kill federal agents before you give up your guns, you're really not that many steps removed from McVeigh's deranged philosophy. AND THEN when you claim you're on the "peaceful end" of the gun owner spectrum, I can only conclude a couple of things: most gun owners are completely insane, or you are insane.

The more I read about gun nut culture the more I seem to come to the belief that the exact type of person that wants to own a gun is probably not someone who should own a gun.
