Re: Mitt Romney's "Catch 22" Tax Return Dilemma

Let's say romney did take the 09 irs amnesty thing, how likely would it be that obama and his team would be privy to this?

Pretty damn likely unless its against the law. If so I downgrade my prediction to likely.

yeah I was wondering the other day, about how many IRS/government employees would have seen Romney's taxes?

I would be absolutely astonished if Romney was involved in OVDI anyways. Having undisclosed bank accounts is a pretty serious and dumb thing to be doing if you're a political candidate.

Romney wont ask that because he isnt racist.

Cos lets face it, only a racist would think the editor and then president of Harvard Law Review and Harvard Law magna cum laude graduate didnt get there by being really really smart.

In fact, we do know which bank held $3 million of Ann Romney's blind trust. It was UBS.

How do we know? Brad Malt, the Romneys' trustee, said so. Not only that, when Romney released his 2010 tax return in January of this year, he had to amend two previously filed disclosure forms, for 2007 and 2011. In 2007, he had not specified that the UBS account was in Switzerland, not the U.S., according to ABC News (UBS has branches in the U.S.).

Let's review the bidding: Ambiguous disclosure in 2007. UBS income on 2010 tax return. Retroactive revision of 2007 disclosure. IRS amnesty for undisclosed foreign accounts in 2009 powered by UBS prosecution. Refusal to release 2009 tax return. Yes, 2009 could be a big problem.
UBS being the bank at the heart of the swiss banking scandal.

I saw this on TV tonight with my wife. I'm actually surprised at how well the Obama team is attacking Romney. The "he had millions in a Swiss bank account" and "Tax havens in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands" is pretty good too.

I think they should have made fun of his singing, personally.

It really does seem like Romney's hiding something though.

I don't buy it at all. It would be funny if Romney is just trolling everyone and he just has a lowish rate for 2009. If people start salivating excessively over finding proof of tax fraud, it could even make something like that look way better.

Re: Mitt Romney's "Catch 22" Tax Return Dilemma

I can't imagine the GOP would allow someone with tax issues to be nominated to run. Is it possible Romney is copying how Obama handled the birther issue? Just ignore it for a while and eventually show the documents and be like, "lol... what a bunch of idiots. This is all they could dig up?"

I seriously doubt Romney's afraid of public perception, and definitely not afraid of the IRS. But he could be afraid of something like this:

Re: Mitt Romney's "Catch 22" Tax Return Dilemma

the tax return stuff is not going to cost Romney anything. The Obama strategy is to always have some manufactured controversy against Romney going at all times. We will see what the next one is. This one is just a baseless implied accusation that will amount to nothing in November. Romney should let it linger, the next manufactured controversy may be more serious.

btw the Romney strategy is or will be to always have some manufactured controversy against Obama going at all times too. Both will be doing this for the next 4 months. Ho Hum

Calling attention to the fact that your tax returns are hundreds of pages long: not a pro move, Willard.
