If that plus not paying any taxes in 2009 is true when he knew he was running in 2012, he might be the dumbest mother****er on the planet.

I consider this thread to be some measure of vindication of my decision to unban Ins0.

Re: Mitt Romney's "Catch 22" Tax Return Dilemma

"In the political environment that exists today, the opposition research of the Obama campaign is looking for anything they can use to distract from the failure of the president to reignite our economy. And I’m simply not enthusiastic about giving them hundreds or thousands of more pages to pick through, distort, and lie about. - Mitt Romney"

The only people up in arms and screaming about these tax returns are the people who seek to drown out the deafening sound of our economy collapsing in on itself.

And this is exactly why he shouldn't give in. This is a situation where there is no potential upside. He can only make things worse for himself, so there's no point in even trying.

Cres, your problem is that you still don't realize that the Obama campaign and the media are one in the same.

The status quo is kinda bad. I mean the Romney campaign has purposefully floated a VP balloon and then sent out a surrogate to call Obama an unAmerican coke fiend who grew up in Indonesia and bought the White House from Tony Rezko blah blah, and the political media basically didn't pay any attention and said "tax returns?" And it's full of the MSM imagining the worst ("did he pay any taxes at all?!? Is he REALLY a tax cheat?") and the GOP is rallying behind the calls asking Romney to release his returns. At some point whatever the reality is has to be better than just letting everyone imagine the worst.

well Obama has some of them, and RMoney has his side. Of course the 2 work together, just as the superpacs and 501c's do.

Isn't that some ancient Chinese proverb? Better to be thought a tax cheat than to release your cleverly prepared tax returns and allow the mainstream media to spin them and create an unfixable ****storm of negative press ... something something remove all doubt.

At least I think it went something like that.

not really true, but let's say that it is, there's a reason for that...

hint: it has to do with the intelligence level required to actually write and speak meaningful sentences and what people of said intelligence level believe in

Since Romney has complied with the law, he should make a proposition to Obama, for every year of my tax returns you want to see, you must reveal a year of your university transcripts and related university writings.

Also... why was it sufficient to only see 2 years of McCain's tax returns. Anything to distract from his phenomenal economic record

It always makes me giggle when effing fox news says that the mainstream media isn't covering this and that.

Silly me.... I always thought it was the Treasury Department's bailiwick to determine if someone is a tax cheat, and not the DNC, debbie wasserman shultz or the lamestream media

.
