Minnesota, Colorado & Missouri sweat thread / Santorum's Big Day
PPP Polls
Minnesota - Santorum - 33%, Romney - 24%, Gingrich - 22%, Paul - 20%
Colorado - Romney - 37%, Santorum - 27%, Gingrich - 21%, Paul - 13%
Missouri - Santorum 45%, Romney - 32%, Paul - 19%
Will Santorum actually pull the big win off in Minnesota?
By how much will the not-Romneys out-delegate Mittens by?
Will Missouri's non-delegate primary translate into caucus votes for the winner and will the media cover Missouri as large?
Will Santorum emerge as the alternative to Mitt and prove it in Missouri where Newt is not on the ballot?
This could be the biggest primary day so far for the GOP. So many variables in play that could throw the race one way or the other.
Anyone living in these states that is Caucusing/Primarying?

Re: Minnesota, Colorado & Missouri sweat thread / Santorum's Big Day
If Santorum loses, then he is finished as a credible candidate.
A win along the lines of the polls just continues the current status quo. He will then need to find some support in states that he is not currently doing well in, which could be a tall order.
The Mitt campaign strategy is to coast along not attacking anyone unless and until they become a threat to derail his smooth sailing to the nomination. He attacked Newt in Iowa because he was a threat, he did not in NH because he did not seem to be a threat, he attacked in FL because he was a threat again. He has not seriously attacked Santorum or Newt in MN, MO and CO because they are not perceived as threats.
Absent a sudden unexpected groundswell like the pre-Iowa surge, this day is not likely to be a big deal for Santorum or anyone else. And if he does surge, Mitt will attack him for the next few races until he is no longer a threat.
So I don't see today as being all that important, other than being fun for the media and the people having fun watching this thing closely.

I live in Minnesota and had no idea there was a primary today.
And I hang out all day on a politics board.

yeah I don't live in a caucus state and can't really figure out how caucuses work. Do you just get a letter saying "Show up at Bob and Suzie's house at 6pm"?

Go vote in the Republican caucus for Ron Paul. It's open to anyone, you can register Republican on-site. Please?
