As someone who's been critical of Hillary's email shenanigans, there's nothing theoretically improper about printing and storing classified emails if you're using appropriate printers and storing them properly.

Also, I print out journal articles all the damn time. I assume she's getting lengthy reports and it's easier to read and undermine a paper copy.

Well, I'm sure they are aiming for a lower price point than that, since they don't have that much money. I imagine the idea is that the satellites will be mass produced and small and they will be able to launch them in batches on partially or fully reusable rockets. It would be some serious sci-fi **** to have gigabit internet anywhere in the world.

Don't know what the market would be for super expensive wifi though, sat phone level pricing wouldn't be unexpected. Quick google shows sat phone prices are still more than a buck a minute pre-paid.

Let the homophobic concern trolling commence.

Listening to Wall Street Journal: Potomac Watch and I'm always amazed at how false the "businessmen want sober analysis and empiricism" claim is. While every person on the podcast sounds erudite and speaks in sober tones every week they have someone on who's virtually a Republican hack in the sense that they just give the Republican spin on the politics of the day without placing it in context. This week they were raving about the high risk pools and how they're going to lower the costs for everyone else, it's just a few people, and while high risk pools have failed virtually every other time because of a lack of funding makes premiums go up, it won't happen this time because it's federal (ok?) and they've proposed a lot of money (the amount isn't specified nor if whatever amount they proposed is what is needed. It's not a problem discussing high risk pools and their benefits, but you have to talk about their drawbacks, would they work?, wouldn't they?, why or why not? etc.

It's just annoying because the Wall Street Journal is supposed to be the flagship sober analysis if conservative newspaper and their podcasts are just Republican talking points, while Vox and other news organizations gets pigeon-holed as a "liberal" news organization and the reporting does lean liberal but at least they discuss Republican and Democrat talking points, analyse them against what experts say and either acknowledge them or dismiss them based on the merits. The Wall Street Journal didn't even discuss CBO scores, the trade offs in healthcare, etc.

Rant done.

It's hard to believe that the project would make sense even on the drawing board if they didn't think they could price the service at a mass-market level.

I use portable sat internet regularly because I go places with no cell signal and there's still pokemons to catch.

Latency is not bad. The negatives are bandwidth ~400k and price. Market price is $7/mb.

The system I use has 3 geo stationary sats. I aim at the Galapagos one. A reason the price is high is the sat has to physically aim an antenna back at me, and it has a limited supply.

I also use a different sat system for emergency beacon & texting. It has much lower bandwidth and is very cheap.

As someone who is not at all a repub and is probably the most socially liberal guy in any room can I have an explanation that is not dismissed as being a concern troll as why its okay to call one man a **** and say he sucks cock and that's the biggest funniest lark that gets 1000 retweets and call a different guy a **** and say he sucks cock and now its bigotry

Micro who you got as best conservative poster?

I think you have it as either:

Spoiler:
The kinda racist Nixon fan that's always posting word puns

Or:

Spoiler:
Maybe the boring choice, Seattle Lou

In Hollywood I worked for a semi old who wanted every single email (seriously like 1000 a day) printed off. She of course drove a Prius to save the world.

I have to review a lot of batch records and often print them, review, shred. I can't seem to pay the same attention to details when it's on a screen.
