You're not saying 'lol you're gay and it's funny because it's a bad thing to be gay'; the comedy resides in the incongruity of the situation and in the extent to which you know hearing that jars with the person's self-perception.
I don't know whether Colbert meant it in this way, but that's the way I thought of it. Your target is a homophobe, so telling him he likes to perform homosexual acts is a personal insult to him without actually signing on to the notion that there is anything wrong with homosexuality. And it's funny knowing that it would make that person uncomfortable/mad.

SpaceX is planning a low-latency, gigabit-speed satellite internet network that will use 3x as many satellites as are currently in earth orbit!

You're all a bunch of cock holsters for having this stupid argument.

What happens if I get Ubered by a brown guy, tho?

That is absolutely correct, and the joke literally is funny. It's a decent bit.

There's nothing these insufferable insincere pendants hate more than Double Standards, but they don't ever ****ing abide by any consistency themselves.

The response here isn't to defend the joke as A Value Neutral Commentary on the word "holster", but to just say "yep I called Trump a ***, which was wrong. I did it anyway because I thought it would hurt his feelings and also because he's gay for Putin"

Something we're going to have to deal with after, you know, the fascists, is that liberal inclusiveness and desire to constantly cheerlead has let some truly ****ing stupid ideas achieve prominence.

This tweet is obviously mostly funny because a professional film critic has never heard of Murder on the Orient Express, but the ****ing slavish worship of tokenism by these idiots is an idea that will need to be stomped out.

Speed of light isn't just a good idea, "low-latency" is going to be the clean coal of the internet.

You'd think anyone under the age of 70 would at least Google "Orient Express" before firing off a tweet.
05-03-2017 , 02:55 PM

All's well that ends well.

That was a tag team in WWF over 20 years ago.

I mean they were actually Asian wrestlers. It wasn't like two Mickey Rooneys wrestling. But still that was the name.

I don't remember the outrage over them but there was probably some about this guy.

Imagine if Tatanka was a new wrestler in WWE. I mean yeah he is Native American in real life. But even so the WWE would be taken to task these days.

Re: Orient Express

Isn't her tweet a joke?

Edit: Looked up her feed. It isn't. Facepalm.jpg

I tried to look at her feed, but she seems to retweet things at the rate of about 1 every 5 seconds. Which makes her feed basically impossible to read.

yeah, sometimes I think about following someone on twitter then I see "TWEETS: 594k" and I'm like "nah, I'm fine."

What you're missing is that she's still committed to her outrage over the lack of Asian cast members, even though she now understands that the Orient Express was a train line in Europe.

Has she learned that it is a rather famous 80 year old mystery novel yet?

Comey testimony indicated huma was forwarding emails to her husband disgraced former congressman and creep Anthony weiner to "print out" so shrillary could read them. I think that's quite enough blaming comey for the clinton campaign losing when really they were just being lazy dimwits. Who in the hell prints an email off to read on paper I would not want to be president like I hate president trump too but at least he can read words on a computer screen. For some reason this printed email thing tilts me super bad

Why couldn't huma print them herself? (Assuming HRC for some reason can't figure out how to print ****.)

wat?

First, 'shrillary' is a pretty sexist insult.

Second, trump is pretty famously known for refusing to use computers, so wtf are you talking about?

I dont like trump so i dont want to get in a flame war defending him, but which is it hes addicted to twitter or refuses to use computers? #consistency

Trump doesn't read anything. That's a semi-joke, but I bet he doesn't read anything more than like three sentences long in a typical month.
05-03-2017 , 04:35 PM
I dont like hilary clinton even slightly and i will continue to lob quasi sexist insults towards her whenever it pleases me, like its ok to use disparaging language like cock holster etc as long as you dont like the target and its coming for your team i assume?
05-03-2017 , 04:36 PM
I agree that cock holster is disparaging, but not to any vulnerable groups. It's neither sexist nor homophobic in the context of the joke.

He does strike me as a "sound bite" kind of guy thats for sure brevity may be the soul of wit but it doesnt strike me as making for particularly good governance
