Re: March for Science. Who's going to their local march?

No Idea how many people showed up in San Jose. It didn't seem like that many when we were milling about at city hall. But then when we got moving, the crowd just seemed to keep going. We ended up at a park that was adjacent to Silicon Valley ComiCon, so there was an interesting mix of costumes at the end. No real fireworks or drama or counterprotest, but I ate some poke from a food truck and drank some beer.

MrsWookie and I each had lots of people wanting to take our pictures for our getups. For me, it was about 2:1 wanting the Putin sign vs. the DNA Gadsden. And almost everyone who I saw taking my picture from afar was doing it for the Putin sign, so I guess that was the winner. Of the people who asked me about it, it was an even split between the people who didn't know what p hacking was and people who didn't know about the alleged pee video. For MrsWookie, her most popular piece wasn't a sign but her DNA dress.

We got to LA's quite late and there was just milling around.

Trolly,

Stalking failed. The only decent sized rust belt city I can find hwy 48 in is Dayton and it looks much much nicer.

Phoenix. I'm in there somewhere. Might post some of my own pics later. Favorite poster was a simple unimaginative but still lol **** MIKE PENCE, but I guess I can't post that one.

Re: March for Science. Who's going to their local march?

Columbus, Ohio with my daughter. The march kind of milled around a bit after a long bit of speeches on the steps of the State House, and seemed to only go a couple of blocks. (The womens march seemed to be better organized and last longer.) Lots of good signs, but there was a group of people near us that had signs that really turned me off. I don't know if you can see them in this picture:

But they were basically:
"Capitalism is killing the planet"

and

"Fight for a socialist future"

I guess this is how inter-party friction happens.

Edit: Remembered my favorite sign: "A woman's place is in the lab." over an illustration of a woman in a lab coat. Then, underneath the illustration: "(Or in the Senate or anywhere else she wants to be.)"

Yeah we had the socialist contingent with their own bullhorns.

We also had a giant naked Trump with micropenis that lucky for all of you I can't find a pic of right now. It seems to have been removed from the LA Science March FB page.

Re: March for Science. Who's going to their local march?

Had a fantastic march here locally. Twice as large as the march the day after the ignaugaration. Went on a pub crawl afterwards with the radical science group.

Looks like they had decent crowds everywhere. The whole idea has to be considered a success.

Here are a few pics from the Phoenix march. It was exciting for a minute when the light rail came through, as a few people were walking along the tracks.

One of the best signs isn't quite readable below: "Trump's team is like atoms- they make up everything!"

Re: March for Science. Who's going to their local march?

I'm late to this party but I went to DC to march, bummer about the weather but it was a mostly positive crowd, glad I went.

Got this from from the Alt National Parks Twitter feed, my favorite sign:
