March for Science. Who's going to their local march? March for Science. Who's going to their local march?

I'm in. Hit me up if you're gonna be at the Birmingham, AL march. Science is cool, kids.

I am toying with some sign ideas, and had an idea along the lines of "I like my politicians like I like my hypotheses", but I am not sure if impeachable, falsifiable, or null really works as a punchline there. Thoughts? Maybe just "Putin engages in Pee Hacking" instead?

Scientists should be telling me how much health I'm sacrificing when I have a caramel shot in my latte (such a liberal) but the decision should be mine. Of course people seemingly can't be trusted to accept the consequences of their bad decisions or even understand that they exist so it's a tricky one.
I agree that you should make you own decisions on what you eat, but scientists should be doing more than measuring calories, they should be advocating for healthy school lunches and consumer education and cutting back sugar subsidies and so on. Like, Rachel Carson didn't just run studies on DDT, she also was a big advocate for the environmental movement and had political positions that she advanced.

Yes. Need more advocacy to increase government involvement. Fantastic job with VA hospital system, EPA, etc. Please everyone: now is you chance to increase government over reach even more!

Signs

We disagree, but I admittedly enjoyed your creativity with those signs. Have fun.

My sign idea:

Yesterday: We marched because no one can tell us what do with our bodies.

Today: We march because science shows that breast feeding is what women should do with their bodies.

Tomorrow: ?

This dude seems shook today.

What do you all think of:

"Cognitive Dissidents"

?

Espresso prices at this rally are very reasonable.

Here in Phoenix. Hot af. But looks like good size crowd.

This march would be twice as big if the control group didn't have to stay home

If I was smart I would have thought of that. Great sign.

Kinda getting sick of hearing Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger songs. It's the 21st century, people. BLM sings along to Kendrick. Get with the times.

Some of the signs were pretty clever - most stayed focused on science - a few went after Trump.

Saw "Satanists for Science" - I'm sure Tucker Carlson will have that one on blast for my religious aunts tomorrow. Also 100% chance they'll find some trash on the ground somewhere in one city and snark about libtards trashing up their environment on earth day. I never did find where to pick up my check from Soros dammit. I hope it comes to me in the mail.

I was impressed the diversity of the crowd. Young and old - not just granola liberals or science-ish types.

There was a counter-protest with maybe 20 Trump supporters. The cops and march organized tried very hard to keep a big gap between the Trump people and the science marchers. Tensions were not high at all. But it's scary to think I could run up and attack one of the pro-Trump people (as an agent provocateur) and that would become THE story. I think that was a real concern on their minds as they'd let women stray a lot closer to the Trumpites than men. I was just trying to get a pic from 10' away and they shooed me over to the other side of the street.

Lol liberals for Trump. HastenDan? I saw one dude come out of the science crowd and join the Trump crowd - he had multiple signs. So clever!!! Some of the Trump people had bullhorns, were dressed militantly, and just kept chanting Donald Trump over and over. Scary **** - they'd have us all in the ovens so fast. 99% of the science marchers just ignored them.

About a thousand or so marchers out here in the Rust Belt. I suck at taking pictures, so you'll have to trust me.
