Decided to check Fox News following the press conference assuming they'd be covering this and yep, you guessed it:

Spoiler:
Ran an anti-Obamacare segment instead.

The accusations that they were retaliatory and that they weren't on the up and up are in there.

Yeah I mean come on, can someone lay odds that Christie REALLY knew nothing about this until yesterday? I'd say less than .01%.

Even if he had nothing to do with it (doubtful), he certainly would have grilled his aids after the accusations first surfaced. Chances the aids would have all lied to his face when questioned, after already doing something so dumb behind their boss' back, are negligible.

Not to mention in what universe would underlings rig a traffic nightmare in support of their boss without letting him know about it? Him getting satisfaction from it would be the whole point. Unless they are just so insanely defensive of their lovable boss that they would go to these lengths and not even tell him.

Christie was behind this or at the very least knew about it yet tacitly allowed it. It's obvious to anyone with a shred of common sense.

so Christie got little sleep last two nights -oops... he changed that to one night when it did not fit the timelines?????

He makes the story about him being a victim.....pretty smooth

He wants everyone to cooperate but is non-committal about whether he would testify under subpoena????

This is going to unravel pretty bad for him.

yeah everyone, including CC, knows that

that was alleged from the very beginning

that's exactly why at the press conference back in whenever CC was sarcastically saying that "lol yeah secretly IT WAS ME moving the cones the whole time LOL"

Yes because his standard gameplan when challenged is to belittle the press and make their questions sound stupid, until the problem goes away. Didn't work this time.

The incident inconvenienced motorists, but also affected public safety, Fort Lee officials said.

The emergency services chief in the town referred to one case in a letter to the mayor obtained by CNN involving paramedics who were delayed in reaching an elderly woman who had suffered a heart attack. She was reached by an ambulance but later died. Further details of the woman's death haven't been released.

What was he blindsided by? His inability to get someone to check his staff's email for four months to make sure they werent involved?

At best, absolute best, Christie handled this incompetently at every single stage.

It's one thing to get blindsided or to blow it off if there are just unsubstantiated rumors floating around, but when continued reporting shows up that nothing was filed properly to even have the appearance of a legitimate operation and the WSJ is reporting on it, he could ask to have the copies of the paperwork on his desk.

But OK let's assume he got blindsided. That just makes him a comically inept manager whose bluster and arrogance just make him sound like more of a jackass in hindsight.

What I am saying is Christie would clearly have grilled his aides by the time of that presser and probably saw their emails already, and therefore DID know about it (not just the lane closures, the entire plot). So he wasn't "blindsided" by anything. At the time he thought he could just do his usual schtick of laughing it off.
01-09-2014 , 03:38 PM
And instead he's going to have a press conference and THEN laugh it off?
01-09-2014 , 03:38 PM
so the underlings are going to close the bridge behind his back (back up traffic on 9-11 btw) and then, when confronted, concoct the bridge study lie without telling christie, but rather telling christie that indeed it was a bridge study, you have nothing to worry about boss, and go testify and resign (baroni and that other dude wienstien or w/e who took the 5th today) without telling him why they are resigning?

or did they tell him, we are resigning because the bridge study was so poorly done boss, we just have to resign?

Almost zero chance imo.

In what world do underlings go to those lengths for their boss without ever even mentioning it to him?
