Re: How low would minimum wage need to go?
Anyone who wants to set a minimum wage doesn't understand the principles of what this republic was founded on. Just because 99% or more of you think MW is good is irrelevant America is not a democracy.

But how does increasing a tax rate on millionaires do this? The post I responded to didnt talk about raising the minimum wage. You still are responding to a post that was never made.

What the principles of the United States was founded on and what it is today is totally different. What you think about abolishing MW is also irrelevant to the politics of today.

I did bring up the minimum wage, If you were referring to my post?? I was specifically talking about "illegals" and legal low wage workers making poverty like wages of 6 or 7 $ an hour.
Anyways, when I brought up the issue of France's new president and his 75% tax on millionares, my intention was to imply that the new tax would have a positive or negative effect on the minimum wage workers. As in there rate of pay may be lowered or raised based on what effect the new tax does have, which we are yet to see of course.
What simple economics would maybe suggest is that by paying workers a minimum wage of say 15$ an hour...that extra money would be injected right back into our economy. Seemingly the pros of raising MW would override the cons
We know that one whom makes 6 or 7$ an hour does not have viable resources to inject money back into our economy. By raising there wage to at least a somewhat sustainable wage of say 15$ an hour our stagnant economy would pick up so fast it would be like lightning. Many more automobiles, electronics, accessories, etc would be bought by consumers

Im not missing anything, Also I really mean to report the facts, rather then input my thoughts.
and you said " pay workers double what they make now"
I never talked about what certain workers make now. Some workers are very rich, others are very poor. I was asserting the option of raising "minimum wage" of around 7$ (which far to many employers currently pay) to a reasonable wage of 15 $ an hour. What that policy would actually do for our economy is yet to be seen, none the less many experts believe the pros of raising MW outweigh the cons, not just for humane reason's, but also economic

Re: How low would minimum wage need to go?
Ok, so you just mentioned the millionaire tax as a cool story bro. Got it.
Also, you didnt advocate a minimum wage increase in your initial post but w/e, posting while high is hard.

What are you talking about sir??? Are you smoking crack???
What does it mean in you're mind, when one post's when they are high? I could understand you saying drunk, is that would you implied bro??? I love the bro thing also. I would hope that when you bring up the term "high" you are speaking of real pyschoactive drugs like crack or herion, maybe even meth.?? I do not do "drugs" myself but maybe you could tell me what they do to you're body if you have experience with them?
Your putting words into my mouth, If you read my previous post I mentioned the implication of raising the minimum wage would POSSIBLY have a positive affect on our very stagnant economy. This is the thought process of most financial experts around the world, though not all of them

Well a raise in the minimum wage should stimulate the economy.
Take for example the restaurant workers wages. Its $2.13 an hour+tips, hasn't been raised from that in close to 20 years, so basically the worker entirely depends on their tips for their income. The only safeguard for them is the employer has to pay them minimum wage if their tips don't add up.
An increase in minimum wage for restaurant workers and other jobs would provide more income across entire micro and macro economies.
The Republicans oppose repealing tax cuts for $250,000+ earners because it would affect small business owners. If people can make do on $7.25 an hour, surely a small business owner can make do without his tax cuts above $250,000.
But as I stated in a different thread this country is a plutocracy and 1% economy, it no longer favors the workers, only favors those that control the most wealth.
