In the old police thread we had a link to a story where exactly this happened. Iirc, the police department hit the guy with like a $40k fine.

Some dude broke into my car last night and stole my GPS, my tire guage, and about a half-a-dozen players cards to Canterbury Park.

I used to be against the death penalty...

think of the comps he's getting you!

but yeah...I don't get the 'dogs are totally harmless all the time' theme here

I'm certainly not a big HURRAH COPS guy, but if you think killing a dog/cat/alligator/mosquito to save your kids is wrong...well lol

That's kind of what my larger point here is.

It's a grey area. I mean given the facts we had the evidence would probably lead a reasonable observer to state he probably freaked out, overreacted and needlessly killed a dog.

However, if some random CCWer shot a dog and some ******ed cop arrested him on some bull**** "reckless conduct" charge, the story still ends up here as a "**** THA POLEEZE" rant.

DBJizzle to the drunk thread

According to the eyewitnesses the dog was wagging its tail and 45 lbs. Firing 3 shots down a crowded park trail was probably not a reasonable decision.

But let's get back to my car. How many detectives are assigned to a smash and grab like this typically?
03-02-2013 , 04:15 AM
But it was AGGRESSIVELY wagging.

Usually it's like this JTM: Cop comes out, takes report. **** gets listen as stolen on NCIC. Cop finds it, arrests guy with it.

Guy also broke into a coworker's car that was parked in the same area. Saw dude's hands off imo

We now have a security guard watching the footage of all the entrances from last night. The smashing rock has been found; i assume extensive forensic tests will be taking place shortly. This guy's going down.

Also, the police sent me a "Do Not Reply" email stating that they received my report.

I'm sure the rock was sent to the crime lab for DNA testing and fingerprint analysis and that facial recognition software is being used.

You watch CSI right? Most realistic show on TV.

I don't typically watch CSI but I greatly enjoy David Caruso memes

Didn't take the dog to jail so it evens out.

Car update: My work's security says this guy has hit several times. He strikes between 10pm and 1:30am. The police absolutely do not care.

Next time you call them identify yourself as Jamie Dimon or Kevin Love.

Nah, occasionally we luck out and find your **** in a trunk.
03-03-2013 , 01:34 PM
"Occasionally" I'll buy, just not "usually".

I wonder how often it ends like this?:

"occasionally we luck out and find your **** in a trunk, then sell it at a police auction"

Probably about as often as pigs fly I'd guess.

Not serious, but couldn't resist the invitation.

That would be everyday, judging by the number of police helicopters I see around here.

And while police auctions happen pretty frequently, I don't think it happens quite that often.
