we should have a "cop shoots dog" containment thread
02-27-2013 , 10:54 AM
Don't we?

02-27-2013 , 11:19 AM
Oh if this is that thread then I guess we need a "cops **** up and kill innocents during botched macho cowboy paramilitary drug raid cause they can't figure out the right house" containment thread.
02-27-2013 , 01:08 PM
I think one thread can contain two things.

Damn. I really did it. I completely shattered the BBS idea. In one eight word post, I've changed EVERYTHING.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with killing a dog that's being aggressive around anyone's kids while not on leash

Spencer Adam Schulman from the comments on the article
Quote:
The dogs were harmless, look how small they are. The reason they weren't on the leash was because I was helping my father whose foot was pinned under a rock in the stream. It's kind of hard to help someone stuck in water while simultaneously holding on to three dogs. Besides it was Catawba Falls where there are dogs running free all the time. One more thing the article failed to stress was the fact that there were two other hikers who witnessed the incident and gave statements to the police. They were absolutely mortified by this guy's overreaction and both went on record saying that it was completely unnecessary. The dog was nowhere near the kids when he shot her nor was she lunging in their direction. The whole thing was a disaster and completely avoidable. Guy is just a typical hick law enforcement looking for any excuse to use his weapon to 'defend himself'. He wasn't remorseful and was even joking around with the other officers who arrive.

Cops love to shoot people and dogs.

Seems like unnecessarily firing your weapon is pretty dangerous.

Bro, if you haven't noticed he could've shot a visibly rabid wolf and the response would be the same.
02-27-2013 , 03:59 PM
Who are we supposed to believe? The disinterested eye witnesses, or the cop who recklessly endangered people's lives by murdering a harmless dog, and needs to fabricate a story in order to avoid felony charges? Clearly a LEO would never lie. Police officers are our friends.
02-27-2013 , 04:01 PM
Yea bro, that dogs owner is a disinterested witness.

The worst part is, I'd probably agree with you that shooting the dog was unneccessary, but you tack on so much extra stupid **** I have to LOL at first it takes a long time to get around to it.

oh and the cop who was playing target practice is disinterested?

and I guess we should ignore the actually disinterested third party witnesses?
02-27-2013 , 06:59 PM
the third party witnesses' statement may be why the police don't care

honestly, I would have no issue if someone shot that dog if there was a 0.0000001% chance that dog would hurt their kids

I'm sure he really wanted to kill rover in front of his kids YEAHHHHHHH I SHOT THAT DEM DERE DOG KIDSSSSSS like wtf

Really? You know firearms are dangerous and not toys right? You shouldn't just go firing them without cause. What happens is, after you press the trigger, there's a huge explosive force, and then a small piece of metal goes flying out the end of this device. That piece of metal has the potential to hurt or even kill someone. It's also a felony, not that it matters, since cops are allowed to commit felonies.

yep I'm pretty sure he aimed between his son and daughter to get the dog between the eyes for TEN POINTS BABY!!!

You know who you never hear shooting dogs? Mail carriers.
02-27-2013 , 11:45 PM
easier to sue for holla dollas

(plus they don't take kids to work)
(plus most dogs aren't in the mailbox)
(plus they just avoid houses with dogs)

I knew a dog who barked at the mailman because the mailman gave him treats when he barked because the mailman was afraid of the barking dog. That was a wicked smart dog.

The dog was barking. He had it coming.

Chances the shooter is in jail if the story is "Off-duty pharmacist shoots dog"? 97%?

0.1%

Even if you're in the wrong, you're rarely going to jail for shooting a dog. You might have to pay damages to the owner, which at most will be a couple hundred for the cost of the dog.

Now if PETA ran the world...
