Wise advice. They can find nukes anywhere, even places where they don't exist.

Indeed, which makes the fact that they haven't found any reason to believe Iran is trying to build a nuke all the more compelling.

Look like Iran is going neo liberal and is being pretty forthcoming with info they previously weren't very open about

Seems like a positive development. A cynic might point out that nobody wants to bomb what they've paid hundreds of billions for, though.

Yeah this except for lifting the sanctions and releasing a boat load of monetary assets USA hasn't changed their approach at all.

North Korea agreement really was a disaster, apparently your grasp of reality is a little shaky. Pro tip, laying off the sauce is almost always a positive development.

North Korea cheated on the deal and we found out. It's not like the deal let them get nuclear weapons--that happened years after the deal officially fell apart.

In any deal the sides have to make accommodations. Iran says it will give up 'X' in return for 'Y.' And then they say they aren't changing their basic position re the U.S. the U.S. says the same. This is all standard and to be expected. The question, of course, is whether or not both sides will comply and we in the U.S. naturally presume that we will and are distrustful, yet hopeful, that Iran will as well. If you don't like the deal that's fine, just say so.

Huckabee: the deal is "marching Israelis to the door of the oven." Quite literally the hottest take on the subject yet. The only one who might be able to top that is Trump.

Right, several countries including America negotiated a deal. The best deal possible that has extended the timeline of Iran getting a nuke from as little as six months (according to Israel) to over a decade (according to Israel) and will likely be the first step to them never getting a nuclear deterrent.

Do you not understand how negotiations and deals work?
07-27-2015 , 04:44 PM
By all means right wing people. Make the argument that Iran should get nuclear weapons asap to deter you from attacking them instead of making a deal to stop them needing nuclear weapons and making it unlikely they ever will get any. What could possibly go wrong?

Nobody's complaining about secret "side deals"?

I'm not sure this is particularly different, aren't all hearings just idiotic posturing instead of fruitful discussion?

Quote:
Republicans think it’s weak and softheaded to care what Iran thinks. At the Tuesday hearing, Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania told Kerry we should demand a better deal, “and if the ayatollah doesn’t like it and doesn’t want to negotiate it, oh, ‘boo-hoo.’ We’re here for America.” Weber, speaking for others in his party, ridiculed Kerry’s concerns about Iranian distrust of the U.S.: “Me and my colleagues were up here thinking, ‘Who cares?’ ” When Kerry replied that the Iranians wouldn’t have negotiated on Weber’s terms, the congressman scoffed, “Oh, my heart pains for them.” These lawmakers don’t seem to understand that much of a negotiator’s job consists of understanding, caring about, and accommodating the other side’s concerns.

Weber angling for SoS in the Trump administration.
08-01-2015 , 03:53 PM
It's probably a good sign for the quality of the deal that Republicans are going hard against the very idea of negotiation.

I hope they're just posturing and dont actually think it's possible to negotiate without empathizing with your opponent's position.
